For the purposes of the Equality Act where sex is one of the protected characteristics, and allows for single sex provision in certain circumstances such as refuges, rape crisis centres, schools, hospital wards….
Does a person’s
sex mean the biological state of being either male or female which they were unequivocally recorded as being at birth or even at or near conception)?
Or does it mean the “sex” a person may become with an official document should they feel they are transgender (n. b this recognition document does not require surgery or hormones)?
