The petition from sex matters linked earlier is
calling on the government to update the Equality Act to make clear that “sex” (male/female, man/woman) means biological sex.

This will make it clear that :

Sex discrimination protection is based on biological sex

Holding a gender certificate does not give someone the right to access single-sex spaces for the opposite sex

In connection with this point, an illustrated example is given on the sex matters site showing a transwoman and their new birth certificate issued after obtaining a GRC, which states their sex is female: but that they should not have access to women’s single sex spaces as they are biologically male.

Sorry my English was muddled in that last post. The birth certificate only states the transwoman’s sex is ‘female’. It does not add that she is biologically male.

The ‘Sex Matters’ illustration (shown on their own petition site)
is there to show that the transwoman with the birth certificate saying she is ‘female’ is still biologically male under the Equalities Act when it comes to women’s sex based rights to single sex spaces.

That is the law, but the purpose of the petition is to get it made clearer.

People are understandably very confused, and scared to implement it.

Women, stand up for your rights, or lose them.

This is so important because mens’ rights activists are aggressively lobbying to twist the interpretation of the Equality Act to include biological men in laws intended to protect women from men. Already men have taken powerful roles supposedly set aside for women, and there are English primary schools teaching the activists’ twisted interpretation of the law (guess who got sent a free glossy poster 🙄).

If you look at history, the vast majority of the world for the vast majority of history has bullied and suppressed women, often with violence. We live in a historical blip where women are protected by laws like the Equality Act. Some men are trying to change that.

Thank you HopRockers, yes that is the Sex Matters site showing the photo illustrations. I was worried about linking it as it includes the petition - incase MN said this is the wrong board for it and deleted it.

Here are the photo illustrations and captions from the Sex Matters website showing the true meaning of the Equalities Law re Sex, and which the petition seeks to make unequivocally clear.

Why? Because there have been many misinterpretations and misunderstandings about the law including by institutions such as the NHS, schools, and even the judiciary.

I am having problems copying and pasting the petition link, but it is on lots of previous posts in this thread.

(As Oher said, schools are also undermining the law, often due to outsourced RSE teaching materials reshaping the law. There is another petition about that
