If you feel the same as me and are worried about the children spreading this new strain.

Please sign.

This should be in the petition section. I’ve asked mnhq to move it for you 😊

PandemicPavolova · 28/12/2020 23:20

Sorry no one will see it in the petition section, op I wouldn't get it moved unless it's braking some site rule.

Op you can also tag it in posts on school threads on corona virus. I've literally tried to just search for the petition topic and I cant find it.

Please keep it here.

CakeQueen87 · 28/12/2020 23:26

Do you live in a Tier 4 area and have children at school?

kazzer2867 · 28/12/2020 23:35

Signed.

@CakeQueen87

Do you live in a Tier 4 area and have children at school?
I do. A Top 15 area. And I'm very concerned about the lack of preparedesss for the new term, with this virulent new strain of the virus.
Lockheart · 28/12/2020 23:58

Petitions aren't allowed on the main boards I'm afraid OP.

Yes. Of course I do - why else would I care?

And apologies - I didn’t know there was a petition rule.

I love in a tier four area and our school has had 0 cases , I shall not be signing this madness. Closing schools is nothing short of abusive madness.

28andold · 29/12/2020 06:29

Not signing this. You will make us homeless.

Underhisi · 29/12/2020 06:34

The petition doesn't mention vulnerable children. Have you considered their needs.

ConiferGate · 29/12/2020 06:35

Closing schools is nothing short of abusive madness

@Cupcakegirl13 you realise they’ll close within days because cases will get into schools anyway don’t you?

Then there’ll be no provision for vulnerable and key worker children. Which would be exposing more of them to abuse. Schools are not staying open in tier 4 areas. Get over it.

inquietant · 29/12/2020 06:41

I think, sadly, the new strain means the country can no longer pretend covid doesn't affect schools. I have always wanted part time rather than full closures as I worry for those young people not having contact or social interaction. I am really worried about schools closing - but we clearly can't just plough on.

MandosHatHair · 29/12/2020 06:47

Deregister your own DCs if you are able to educate them at home. My tier 4 area school has not had a single case.

SelfIcellation · 29/12/2020 06:54

Despite my child being sent home twice last term because someone in her bubble tested positive and despite living in Tier 4 I still support schools being open. This is because my child's resilience at being messed around, being educated at home, and being told her age group are at fault, is waning. I fear for her mental health. Being an only child, spending days and days with only adults, also harms her social and emotional development. She needs consistency and real-life contact with her peers, not being plugged into the Internet each day to learn and speak to her friends. It's horrible.

Cupcakegirl13 · 29/12/2020 06:54

@ConiferGate you have no possible way of knowing this, we all have our opinions.

Gwlondon · 29/12/2020 06:56

May I ask how your school have organised things? I know of three tier 4 schools where the children stay in the class room. Teachers are either remote or move between classrooms. So no mixing. The remote teachers are either vulnerable, reducing their amount of contacts or needing to work from
Home.

How is lunch organised? Are pupils eating at their desk? Even a cold lunch at their desk would reduce contacts.

Twickerhun · 29/12/2020 06:56

No. Tier 4 here. Many many kids need school for safety or other Heath benefits. Shutting schools can do terrible terrible harm.
