So nauseous do they make me in fact that I cannot bring myself to open them or even post on them. Some are follow-on threads from ones that I really enjoy. I know it's unreasonable but it is a visceral reaction- I just expect them to be filled with barely literate tripe...

I agree, on the principle that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. On the other hand, maybe it's better to be warned about the likelihood of bilge within.

There was one recently that I had to hide as it really annoyed me everytime I saw it in Active Convos (and I'm not even a true pedant).

IIRC it was something like the use of "there" instead of "their"

bad spelling doesn't particularly irk as long as i get the general theme

what i do find impenetrable is long monotonous dialogue

I feel like that about the solid blocks of text too but often it's someone having a really shitty time and the first time they've posted after lurking for ages and I don't have the heart to give up half way through...stupid, as they obviously don't know who's reading their OP anyway...

ScottishMummy- I agree. It's the lack of any kind of spacing, whether paragraph breaks or spaces after clauses, that does for me. I tend to skip any posts and OPs that are laid out like that.
