Just listening to our's now on iTunes ... There is a Light that Never Goes Out, by The Smiths.

Luckily most of our friends share our sense of humour, but my Mum was a little perplexed, bless her!

Suddenly - as the words ment a lot to us. We had both been single for years,we got engage 6 weeks after we met.

Expectantmum · 04/07/2006 22:43

We signed the register to Father and Son, Boyzone, which was poignant because we walked in with my DH carrying our six month old DS. Our "first dance" was The Way You Look Tonight, Eric Clapton (his choice, not mine, I wanted Don't Want to miss a thing, Aerosmith)

muminaquandary · 06/07/2006 21:26

aaaahhh ... that is so sweet

It had to be you, Harry Connick Jr for our first dance, then Moon River for everyone to join us on the dance floor in a wonderful waltz...

It's our 7th anniversary on monday!
We had Christy Moore "The Voyage" - the words are so nice and me and dh spent many a night cuddled up falling asleep listening to it.
Some of the lyrics are....

Life is an ocean, and love is a boat
In trouble waters it keeps us afloat
We started this voyage with just me and you
Now gathered round us, we have our own crew.

Beautiful song!!

weeboagie · 06/07/2006 22:22

Wonderful world - Louis Armstrong - played by a ceiledh band - it fitted the day perfectly.

janeite · 07/07/2006 22:01

Muminaquandary - haven't ever had a wedding song but just had to say that if I ever do get round to it, I've always thought "Hand In Glove" would be a good one - but "There Is A Light" is even better!!!!

Xena · 07/07/2006 22:08

Gareth Brookes- shes every woman
She's sun and rain, she's fire and ice A little crazy but it's nice And when she gets mad, you best leave her alone'Cause she'll rage just like a river Then she'll beg you to forgive her She's every woman that I've ever known

BudaBabe · 07/07/2006 22:11

Tina Turner "Simply the Best"

DJ we booked never showed up - obv never meant to as he hadn't asked what song we wanted and i never thought to think of one!

So in a panic after arranging another DJ at 5 mins notice at 7pm I just picked that - got everyone up dancing too!

HonorMatopoeia · 07/07/2006 22:12

Another Girl Another Planet by The Only Ones

I think I'm on another world with you (with you)
I'm on another planet with you (with you)

(later found out it's allegedly about heroin (ooops)

After that we also cocked up a bit, as we wanted that Dick Dale sufer thing one from Pulp Fiction, but when we gave the cd to the dj, we forgot about the film clip which precedes it. If I tell you it starts: ''OK you Motherf*s freeze, or we'll execute every last motherf** one of you,'' you can imagine me dear ol' grandma's face....!

hey ho, that was 12 years ago and if we did it again we'd probably still have Another Girl. Followed by Ballad of James and Red Molly (Vincent '59) by Richard Thmpson.
