Take no notice of Blathers, DW, she just loves making work

Sorry dd2 woke up!

Gonna try to get a hairdresser to come and plait hair with flowers etc all through it. Tough on the little boys but hey ho. My fil does events photography so I may do a backdrop and get their photo done as rapunzel when hair done. Three little boys three and under do I really need to do a Flynn costume?

Find pascal - gonna hide lots of different coloured pascals everywhere, do a hunt and trade them for gold coins or such like.

Pin the nose on Flynn rider (seen loads on pinterest).

Thinking instead of pass the parcel maybe pass flynns bag round and take from it as a lucky dip. I wanted to put the crown in it (like in the film) but then I'd have to rig it for a girl wouldn't I?

Crafting- pascal party blowers, activity sheets and colouring in. Maybe crown decorating/lantern decorating?

Dd is bound to want to do some dancing like the hokey cokey!

Decorations purple table coverings, purple bunting with tangled sun logo, purple lunch boxes and fruit shoot style bottles recovered in the logo. (then I don't have to cater for the relatives!) lanterns with led lights inside.

Lantern release - late nov it will be dark by 4pm so totally feasible. But on the net some people have done it, others are scared of safety issues. I was planning on giving each family a lantern to light. Hall is next to a massive playing field so I thought this would be okay.

Tinkerisdead · 12/09/2012 23:26

Oh yes and party bag - rapunzels paints, mini easel and mini canvas. Job done

stealthsquiggle · 13/09/2012 07:38

sounds great, DW - will comment properly later. Work well, driving down the M5 now [yawn].

(driving soon, that is, not right now - even I don't MN in the car)

I was only trying to help Sad

Hoping the Peg Dollies arrive today as Sis is visiting and I could send one back to DW with her....

Tinkerisdead · 13/09/2012 08:29

Come on peg dolly!!

Dd1 is ill on the sofa. Damn it, i did all my housework yest so that i could lounge around today and she's thrown up on me!! Its the first time ever that she's been sick so she's all forlorn on the sofa.

stealthsquiggle · 13/09/2012 10:24

Poor DD1 Sad. This concept of having all your housework done is alien to me - the best ours ever gets is tolerable and that is only after the cleaner has been Blush

I was only kidding, Blathers. In the end, DH went to bed, so I sewed the tails as well. This evening's 'in front of the TV pretending to be sociable' job is to turn them all the right way out and stuff them. I must also remember to make one of the craft dragons and make sure it will fit into the prototype bag.

DW - I think there were good and bad versions of that tower invitation - I liked the one with the proper sillhouette of the tower rather than just a rectangle and a triangle, IYSWIM. Your party plans sound wonderful - definitely agree that food boxes will make it a lot easier not to be catering for all the hangers on.

OP posts:
Tinkerisdead · 13/09/2012 15:22

Right so, ive asked my dad to make the tower template one. Ive worked out everything i need for the party and ordered sone bits. Gonna make lanterns to decorate the place with those battery tealights and then decorate lanterns as a task and swap the light into the take home ones at the end of the party.

Ive emailed the parish to ask for the hall.

The sun came out and dd has rallied Hmm so i bundled then into the garden in swimsuits and shades and let them go mad with an icecream to capture a shot for 'august' in my photo calender idea. Let it be known it takes around 60 attempts to get one photo of a toddler and a baby. One down 11 more to go!

stealthsquiggle · 13/09/2012 18:20

Glad to see that I am not the only one who caves to Blathers peer pressure, DW Grin

Fleece for big tails and wings has arrived, but I am resolutely ignoring it until the bags are done - I am fed up with half-finished jobs (there are still lots of ex-dinosaurs with their wings only pinned on hidden somewhere, and more who have no wings at all yet Sad)

Blatherskite · 13/09/2012 20:50

I am really bad for starting and not finishing projects. It actually makes me quite sad sometimes.

Tinkerisdead · 13/09/2012 21:06

What have you started and not finished then, i'm intrigued. I just dont get started (cot set) but if i start i'll absolutely finish something.

Blatherskite · 13/09/2012 21:13

DS's Christmas book
DD's Christmas book
DD's first birthday scrapbook
Silk painting kit that I bought after our honeymoon
Scarf that I tried knitting
Swing tent

Off the top of my head...

Tinkerisdead · 13/09/2012 21:55

What's their christmas book?

Ah you've got me i'm still filling out dd2's memory book but her baby book is almost complete (weights, walking, 1st xmas, 1st birthday and teeth left to complete).

I need to make some personalised baubles for my mum, a felt mobile for dd2's room and get cracking on their advent activities as well as these parties, and xmas.

Is your mind a whirl all the time?

stealthsquiggle · 13/09/2012 23:35

30 tails turned and stuffed. Sleep now.

Ive got to repair some bead work on christening gown and then... Turn a green hooded romper into pascal!!!!

stealthsquiggle · 14/09/2012 09:40

Grin fun. I found a dragon party blog where she made dragon costumes out of green hoodies, but she didn't give any details. The magazine I treated myself to yesterday has an article headed 'Bring out your inner Rapunzel' - making peony hairslides.

Progress to date on bags here - described by DS this morning as the aftermath of a dragon massacre.

OP posts:
Tinkerisdead · 14/09/2012 14:00

Wow you are good thats loads. Ive done the gown but dh has the parcel with the romper in it in his car!! Tonights job then.

I need to sculpt the hoody into a kind of crest down the centre and try to mould some kind of eye sockets if i can to make like a ridge. Thinking if i stitch along it'll make a sort of defined shape? I can only try hey.

stealthsquiggle · 14/09/2012 14:34

I have never tried hoody-conversion myself. pascal costume for inspiration?

So - I finally got around to trying a dragon (the flying ones which will be the craft activity) in a bag. It fits, but only if you take the wings out - but the bag would need to be huge to get it in whole - so I think the bags will stay the same size, and they will just have to take the wings out. So there.

Well my girls birthday party went really well and they had a ball :) I didn't get as many decorations up in the hall as I wanted as we had lots of people arriving early but it still looked good. Also had party prizes wrapped and ready to use but we didn't even need them as the kids had so much fun just playing. The hall had the bouncy castle, soft play shapes and lots of trikes / ride ons so everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

Blatherskite · 16/09/2012 21:24

Yey. Glad it went well :)

stealthsquiggle · 17/09/2012 11:40

sayhello - sounds great - the best parties are the ones where you don't get time to so all the games because they are too busy having fun Grin.

Fabric shopping done. That hurt. I made the mistake of working out how much these bags are costing to make. Ouch.

OP posts:
Tinkerisdead · 17/09/2012 21:50

Go on stealth whats a bag worth?

I'm unpicking applique from the green romper ready to start the hoody conversion.im off to the isle of wight again tomorrow and i'm debating whether to take it with me.

Littlefriend im so glad the party went so well it sounds like you all had a brilliant time.

stealthsquiggle · 17/09/2012 23:44

I was only counting cost of materials and I got to nearly £4 per bag.

DS solved the invitation dilemma, though - dragons are now laminated and ready to go.

Blatherskite · 19/09/2012 10:48

DW! The Peg Dollies are here Grin

stealthsquiggle · 19/09/2012 13:01

oooh - vicarious peg dolly making.

I have lost 2 evenings sewing to general exhaustion and laziness getting the invitations out (once they were done I couldn't resist sending them into school, even though it is ludicrously a bit early) and am about to lose 2 more to work travel - travelling handbaggage only so I can't even take any cutting out/sewing with me.

I need to start thinking about food at some point, and making lists of games and finding all the stuff I bought and hid
