would it be bad to confess that i have never read any of those authorsBlush

FiveGoMadInDorset · 12/09/2010 20:39

I'm going to have to get seriously brave aren't I?

Lizzylou · 12/09/2010 20:50

They are OK, Trills, am sure I've seen nicer.

Norma, however did you guess? I am partaking of some holy Sauv Blanc Grin

Ouch, they are not what would be deemed Classical authors, fret not.

Genuflects discreetly to Five.
I do love the incense and stuff of Catholic church, I feel all special and dramatic.

It was very lovely today, was the church I used to do readings in as a child (only through school, my Mom is all talk re: Catholicism).

Lizzylou · 12/09/2010 20:51

Shiney, I do love your directness Grin

OuchPassVodka · 12/09/2010 20:51

although to be fair it is not just a lot of men. i think it depends a bit on the person. i am very dense on these matters. accidental date Blush but reckon that it is probably more common in men. Listen to shiney the devil is in the detail.

NormaSknockers · 12/09/2010 20:53

They're ok trills, bit plain though? These are a bit more interesting

Give us a slurp Lizzy Grin

Shiney tell you what, come down for a visit & you tell H for me. I'll buy you some reversy percys...

TrillianAstra · 12/09/2010 20:55

I agree with Shiney - it's not about you laying down the law and him doing as he is told. It is about him reconsidering what is going on and doing what he thinks is best for his marriage (and stopping being a nobhead).

CrispyTheCrisp · 12/09/2010 20:58

Hail Lizzy Mary

My recipe is 4lbs blackberries, 1.5lb of peeled, cored & chopped cooking apples (need 2-2.5lb) and 1/2 pint of water. Put washed & hulled blackberries in a large pan with half the water and simmer till soft. Cook apples until just beginning to mush in a separate pan or microwave with the remainder of the water (or be lazy and bung it all in together grin). Add sugar and boil until at setting point 105c or 225f (or use wrinkle test in fridge). Wash jars in very hot water and dry with clean cloth. Ladle in hot jam and seal immediately.

I don't have a specific jam pan, although i do have a very large pan which i normally use. Today though for about 1/3 of the above recipe i used a large saucepan (just watch when it starts to boil as it can boil over).

Jars we tend to keep and recycle ones we buy or get kilner jars when we go to France (much cheaper). Ask around - i'll bet loads of neighbours have a stash and you can promise them a full jar in return

Norma, so glad things have progressed in the right direction Smile. With MN and MIL on your side, you cannot fail. I think you should have a direct ear piece link to Shiney for seriously good retorts though!

TrillianAstra · 12/09/2010 20:58

Those definitely are more interesting Norma but I want closed toe and more than 1cm of heel hitting the ground or else I will fall over.

Grin at interspersed serious advice with shoe shopping

NormaSknockers · 12/09/2010 20:59

Nobhead, I like that word.

I know, this does need more discussing & I have got to get him to, in the very least, respect what I'm saying even if he cannot understand it.

NormaSknockers · 12/09/2010 21:01

I like you're thinking Crispy

Ah, yes more then 1cm on the ground would certainly lessen the chances of falling over!

Norma - stick a bid on our high chair and change table while you are there please Grin

FWIW i think he understands what you are saying very well, but would rather put his hands over his ears say 'la,la,la,la,la, but she's my friend, you emotional, la, la, la' and hope it all just goes away again. Easier to ignore it if he can, but that doesn't mean it is right, and you will NOT be a pushover about it this time. Stay strong Smile
