I think slow cookers are supposed to use very little electricity...

I do stew or curry in them, no recipe really other than 'put in what you would normally put in that meal and then leave it to cook for a very long time'. I just bung things in, no browning or anything like that.

NormaSknockers · 12/09/2010 19:46

Sounds good, been debating getting one for ages & I saw this one on offer so looks good.

NormaSknockers · 12/09/2010 19:48

Is a 3.5 litres a good size or would you go for a 6.5?

TrillianAstra · 12/09/2010 19:49

Mine is £10 from Tesco and works fine, so if the real price for that is £40 it must be special! My top tip is to chop everything the night before (when you are making Tuesday's diner, do the chopping for Wednesday at the same time) so on Wednesday morning all you have to do it throw it in a turn it on. No-one wants to cut up meat at 8am.

bellavita · 12/09/2010 19:49

I use my slow cooker quite a bit too Norma, more in winter than in summer though.

Normally no browning here too - unless I have loads of time.

Have cooked joints of beef in mine too.

Very easy to clean - I bung my crock pot in the dishwasher.

bellavita · 12/09/2010 19:51

I am pretty certain mine is more like the 3.5 litre one.

Sounds like some progress has been made Norma. Hope it keeps on improving for you xx

FiveGoMadInDorset · 12/09/2010 19:56

Mwah

Wnt swimming twice, just puttin DD to bed and will try to put photos on.

NormaSknockers · 12/09/2010 19:57

Sounds like it's definately worth getting then, Trills I would usually lob one in the trolley at Tesco (my £5 Tesco sandwich toaster is still going!) but I think it's about time I blew some cobwebs off of Hs credit card Grin

Thank you Bella, me too! MIL called earlier & Hs side of the conversation was basically 'Yes but', 'Ok', 'well, no but', 'no, it's not' & 'you're right' he came off the phone looking very sheepish.

bellavita · 12/09/2010 20:00

Go Norma!!!! Grin

and so he should be bloody sheepish too.

and and, buy something nice for yourself whilst you are using his card.

I intend too Grin I am in need of some new clothes so figured I would go shopping in the week & take the plastic with me!

I think MIL was very unimpressed & he doesn't like to let his mum down as he's a self confessed mummys boy.

OuchPassVodka · 12/09/2010 20:05

you sound slightly perkier. Norma Grin

TrillianAstra · 12/09/2010 20:06

Very firm Shiney :)

Lizzylou · 12/09/2010 20:09

Hello all

Have been down to the Midlands (again, frigging M6) to be a Godparent, am feeling all holy and worthy and very knackered.

Glad things are better, Norma.

Lovely bed Bella.

Great art and poetry BOF, you are such a muse. I can't imagine DH painting/writing about me. Though he is very complimentary, it is mostly for our ears only IYSWIM, or only when he's getting some.

Jaq, fab news about your TCs, what a relief for you.

Ouch, you OK sweet?

Crispy, I need to make jam and chutney, I have a ton of blackberries in the freezer, and loads of apples and plums off our trees.
Do I need a jam making pan???
Where do you get empty jars from?

Peace and light to everyone (am holy, remember?)

I can always count on you Shiney for the firm touch Grin I think I actually channelled you earlier as what I shouted at him calmly said to him earlier was along those lines.....with the odd 'you complete tosser' thrown in Blush

NormaSknockers · 12/09/2010 20:17

Shiney you've got it one, he cannot flirt for toffee & a woman would have be completely naked & begging for it before he would even begin to suspect she was flirting with him. He can be quite dense on that score.

Lizzylou · 12/09/2010 20:17

Good girl, Norma.

Shiney, it was lovely but I was only there as they needed a Catholic, I was happy to oblige (as that was why my Brother was a God parent to my boy).

Schools n shite.

NormaSknockers · 12/09/2010 20:19

Lizzy that's lovely (aside from the travelling), shall we call your MaryLizzy from now on with you feeling so Holy?

OuchPassVodka · 12/09/2010 20:22

yep i am ok. bored waiting for ds' uniform to finish washing. letting my imgination run riot. almost tempted to write that book... Wink

Norma - good on you.

Lizzylou · 12/09/2010 20:28

Funnily enough Norma, I was Mary in the nativity play (aged 5).

Ouch, a novel eh? So are you a Barbara Cartland/Jilly Cooper/Jackie Collins or the bird who wrote Emannuel type of writer?

TrillianAstra · 12/09/2010 20:28

Writing a dirty book are you Ouch? Saturday's Times had Caitlin Moran interviewing Jilly Cooper - sounded like so much fun!

TrillianAstra · 12/09/2010 20:30

X-post with MaryLizzy, who is far too pure to know anything about dirty books!
