Congratulations on all the year 3 finishes and graduations to come. I looked for the times of this years’ ceremonies and it looks like DD will have hers September 2026 if it follows the same pattern so I’m assuming jobs are okay with them taking time out to attend their graduation. She’ll possibly be in a teaching position next September to start her ECT 2 years all being well on the job hunting 🤞🤞

She’s now home for the summer after handing in her last assignment and is staying at her uni house for 3rd year so no moving this year - phew! She still brought loads of stuff home and is wondering how she’ll fit two bedrooms worth of stuff into one bedroom end of 3rd year when she comes home.

She has her 21st in a few weeks and DH and I are looking to get her a cheap little car so she can use that for placements as the last two years of getting buses and trains (that don’t turn up or are late) meaning 5:30am wake ups and not home til 7pm will, hopefully, be a thing of the past.

Hope all the fab fathers here have a lovely day 😊

Piggywaspushed · 15/06/2025 14:45

We picked DS up yesterday and will now only see Birmingham and Old Joe on the 9th July for graduation . He gets his results on Wednesday, and then if to Krakow for a few days. He still needs to get accommodation in Sheffield sorted which is a concern!

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 15/06/2025 16:16

We also picked up DS yesterday, his stuff is EVERYWHERE and I have done three loads of his washing today. 😩

I think DS's graduation is at the end of July. I have it written somewhere...

Zebracat · 15/06/2025 18:51

Dh got the girl back today. So much stuff. Nowhere to put it. She’s here for 4 weeks now. Then a couple of holidays and off she goes fora year. I hope we don’t get on each others nerves. I’m trying to hold back on paying for everything. She showed me coloured hair inspiration photos today and I told her straight that If she wants it she must pay for it. I feel a bit proud of myself. I’ll probly cave tho.

Graduation not till med Sept for DS, I have made him book tickets and his gown etc as he kept putting it off and I've booked a hotel for the night before. He has had his dissertation and final assignment grades now, just need to wait for the final degree classification. The results were about what he was expecting, he has been very consistent this year.

<drum roll> DD has FINALLY got a date for her ADHD assessment next month.

Shimy · 16/06/2025 19:05

@ExpensiveDecoration Wishing DD luck with his adhd assessment. Hope it all goes well.

Shimy · 16/06/2025 19:09

Congratulations to all those graduating again and have arrived home. It's hard to believe this is ds2's cohort, all done and dusted. Here's to happy times for the next stage of their lives.
DS completes his placement end of August. Onto final yr come September. I think he feels really grown up now, almost like he's outgrown uni already and he's certainly enjoyed earning.

@Piggywaspushed I hope your ds manages to sort accommodation, Sheffield is meant to have lots so wishing him all the best with his search and hope he gets some good flatmates.

@Aslockton I haven't followed what your DS is doing but it sounds like he is very accomplished in his sport? joining in with the congratulations, enjoy the moment he sounds like a very busy young man.

Oblomov24 · 16/06/2025 19:28

Congrats to graduations.
Ds1 is home, and off to Portugal with Dh tomorrow.

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 17/06/2025 08:53

Good luck with the assessment @ExpensiveDecoration .

I can't remember but did anyone's DC go to Bath? DS2 did the open day this weekend and has put if firmly as his no1 choice now. I've read there are problems with accommodation there which worries me, is it a problem?

OublietteBravo · 17/06/2025 10:55

DD got her final results today: Batchelor of Business with law, 2:1

She’s delighted! I can’t believe she has a degree - she’s not even 21. (Her birthday is in July).

Comefromaway · 17/06/2025 11:21

Congratulations to all receiving results.

Seeline · 17/06/2025 11:29

Congratulations on results!

Just got back from a week in Majorca - the 4 of us, without an argument!! Just ploughing through the washing now....

DD goes back to Norwich for a couple of weeks at the end of the month for some ambassador shifts and then we'll move her out of her Y2 house. Y3 house contract starts beginning of September so our living room will be full of crap for about 6 weeks!

She is beginning to think about a Masters after her degree - Leicester and York look to be front runners at the moment. They don't seem to do PG open days, and don't include PG courses on normal open days so I think we shall have to try and work out a couple of independent visits over the summer. Not sure how much help that will be and York is a long trek for a wander around an empty campus...

sansou · 17/06/2025 12:38

DS finishes his year long placement next week and had his exit interview with HR yesterday which ended with them formally offering him a gradaute job for 2026! His current team wants him back and he wants to go back so I'm ecstatic for him. (Software engineer in the defence sector). This is the first summer that he's having completely off so it's festivals/camping and interrailing with friends for the next 2 months. Not going to lie, it's a huge relief that he's got a job offer lined up since I know how hard the graduate job market is looking this year.

crazycrofter · 17/06/2025 12:41

Wow, well done to your Ds on the job offer @sansou and well done to @OublietteBravo ’s dd on her degree result! 👏

Delphigirl · 17/06/2025 12:41

Well done to all those getting these great results! And well done @sansou to your DS - he must really have impressed them. Fantastic news!

ealingwestmum · 17/06/2025 13:38

That is such good news for your boy @sansou, congratulations to him.

And to your daughter @OublietteBravo, hope she plans big for July's big birthday bash :)

And to all the other graduates this year, bravo to all of them. I hope they either have great options for their next move, and if remaining in studies, get some quality down time before they start up again!

Mine due home this Friday, a little excited. It's been a long year!

Shimy · 17/06/2025 15:56

Congratulations to @OublietteBravo DD. It's a great feeling isn't it? when DS1 rang with his results i couldn't stop beaming all day.
Congratulations also to @sansou DS, that sounds like a fantastic job he's got lined up, now he can face the rest of his degree calmly.

Piggywaspushed · 17/06/2025 16:07

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 17/06/2025 08:53

There were problems in the cohort before ours but it seems OK now. There was an 'Oxbridge rejects' thread of really nice posters ,several of whom picked Bath and all were doing well. I'll see if I can find the thread and ask!

OublietteBravo · 17/06/2025 16:29

Congratulations to your DS on his job offer @sansou!

I happen to be on holiday this week with DD and DS, so we’ll probably have a little celebration of her passing her degree this evening. (DH will miss it as he’s visiting a school friend in Bermuda instead of being away with us).

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 17/06/2025 16:35

@OublietteBravo fabulous, well done your DD and well done to your DS @sansou I don't think DS gets his results until mid July.

Thanks @Piggywaspushed much appreciated.

OublietteBravo · 17/06/2025 17:59

@ealingwestmum - we have DH’s 50th and DD’s 21st on consecutive days, so there is a big party being planned!

EwwSprouts · 17/06/2025 18:04

@OublietteBravo Congratulations to your DD on her great grade! Have a fantastic party. My big birthday coincides with DS's graduation.

@sansou He must have really shone. Great news.

Tomorrow I'm lobbying in Westminster with lots of others. A whole new experience!

25newernames · 18/06/2025 11:51

Brilliant news @sansou

@JustHereWithMyPopcorn DS went to Bath. They guaranteed accommodation for people who firmed. DS got his preferred accommodation. Some accommodation is in the city rather than on campus but there are pros and cons to that.

I think the issue is with insurance offers. Second and subsequent housing is expensive and needs to be booked early but there are houses available. I wouldn’t worry if it’s going to be the firm offer but insurance would be very difficult.

Piggywaspushed · 18/06/2025 15:28

I found the thread and posted on it re Bath. Hopefully the OP will see it!

Piggywaspushed · 18/06/2025 15:29

DS still waiting for his results here....
