As title! Relevant as I very recently (as in, today) told my dad to get out of my room when he came in without asking and startled me - to put it mildly, we do not have a good relationship, and I do not want him going in there as I try and maintain it as somewhere I feel totally safe.
Him being able to go in/out without permission means it isn't that anymore for me. But I can see it might be unreasonable because he's the parent (though the house is owned by my mother).

@MrsTerryPratchett you know Canada, the nearest college/uni wasn’t near at all.
There was plenty of private time, just not likely when us parents were home.

@jannier rude question. Simple answer that was NOT an option by day.

Rude why? Do you think they never did it unless it was dark how was it not an option what did you do to stop it force open bathroom and bedroom doors?
Adolescents and adults masterbate

My kids are teens but I always knock and ask if I can go in, i wouldn't dream of just barging in. I have been knocking since they were in secondary school, if not longer. You say you feel uncomfortable can you block the door somehow? Even if it was his house he shouldn't just be coming In your room, it's your own private space.

@jannier well in all the years they lived under my roof I’ve never barged in a bathroom, I’ve never found them in that situation and they themselves have never raised my cleaning routine as an issue.

But you honestly think they don't masterbate and never have? Maybe they were just quick at hiding....did they just walk into your room whenever they wanted?
