Oh no Drlove, sorry you are having problems and I can't help either i'm afriad. I haven't been there yet! If you are on cloth nappy tree there might be somebody on there who can help?

Tree - I think I have asked you about this before but can't remember what you said. I am trying to work out what is likley to be a good choice for my newborn (too impatient to just wait till she gets here!!) lol. What wraps do you use and what have you found works? I have quite a good selection, but the small sizes look huge! We do have some XS but not many I don't think. The motherease airflows in small look like they won't fit for months! I haven't bought any brand new (well, most are new but from random people iyswim) so just bought bits when I have seen them at a good price.

This is going to sound stupid considering I only did the whole newborn thing - but how often do you change them? I honestly can't remember for tiny babies. I THINK DD pooed so often that I didn't really need to change her when she hadn't poo'ed but not sure if that is the same with all babies. I will be breastfeeding, same as last time. And do you change very often in the night?

I am still puzzled by these nappies that arrived yesterday. I am a bit worried that they might have been for somebody else, and mine have gone to them!

treedelivery · 29/03/2009 19:42

We change dd2 every 2-5 hours, totally dependant on if I forget or not

When she was completely new and shrivelled up, sandy's xs were really the best, with a fuzzi bunz small as a wrap. Bizare but true! After a few weeks also lollipop fluffy and fleece, with fuzzi as a wrap again, and airflows xs too. They are soooo tiny and cute they look like dolls nappies!

She looked hysterical in all of them, she sort of rolled around on her big round bum! [see profile for fuzzi over huge fluff nappy - she looks amazed by it all ] Think I have totally over stuffed and over boosted as a bit of a newbie to it all.

DD2 hardly ever poo'd, so we got off lightly [although the resulting gripe/colic not so great]. If dd1 had been in washables I'd have needed 40 xs sandies as she poo's at every feed.
Now 2 months, bg and others are starting to fit a bit better.
What nappies arrived then? Anything good? I'm expecting some fuzzi's and something else that excapes me! All at postoffice as I was away and missed parcel. I want my fluffy post!

TheNatty · 29/03/2009 20:20

tree i believe u are waiting 4 ur pink BG's

does anyone else hate sundays? no fluffy post

i am waiting for my XL ellas house and 2 motherease wraps, plus some bamboo boosters and some microfibre glove inserts..

looking forward to tomorrow

oh and tree your kids are so lovely

treedelivery · 29/03/2009 20:26

I am I am! I knew it was pink, and I had a feeling it was a bg!

Need to campaign to have post on a Sunday, except for bills obviously.

Still wondering what soon got in the post. If it's 20 itti's os something then......

....Mine Mine Mine. I've been waiting and waiting for them.

soon2befamilyof4 · 29/03/2009 20:26

Thanks for that. Have you tried lollipop softees? I think I have some of them in my stash of size 1s and wondering if I should keep them?

I do have some XS sandys but only about 4 or so. I have plenty of small though. Wasn't sure if it was worth investing in many Xs as we will use disposables in hospital and for the first few days and then guessing baby will outgrow them very quickly? Have dyed the ones I do have though!

I am selling 2 wonderoos onesize pockets if anybody is interested? One is Yellow and the other blue/purpleish? Both PUL outter and fleece inner?

afterglow · 29/03/2009 21:20

Our first night with a boosted ecobubs was a success. So nice not having to deal with a smelly disposable first thing.

Tree, I also have hard water and no tumble dryer. I have stayed away from cotton and hemp nappies as they both go crunchy quickly. We have bambinex teddy fleece and some random bamboo fitteds, together with bamboo sandys and a bamboo bbh. I'm getting increasingly fond of pockets (bg, fuzzi, ecobubs) as they dry so much quicker.

treedelivery · 29/03/2009 21:26

How do you find the bamboo afterglow? does it stay fairly soft? Is bamboo much more absorbant than microfibre in your opinion?

soon dd2 is 2 months and can wear xs just so I reckon thats good going. She's not plump at all though, skiny legs and all, so I guess it depends on how you make them!

See how you go, you can buy my xs if you like them on new dc [cheeky smiley]
I've got some wonderoos and so far they are way to leaky, am hoping she'll grow into all these lovely things I have! Otherwisw would be tempted - as usual.

Am loving thirsties by the way, very tidy, no cruch as velour, and comfortable.

afterglow · 29/03/2009 21:46

It's staying soft so far, but is not as soft as when I bought it. I had a trial kit from the local council and that was useful as I could see exactly what nappies would look/feel like after months of washing in hard water. I'm really not sure about one being more absorbent than the other. I know that bamboo holds onto wee better than microfibre, but microfibre hoovers up wee more quickly. Having said that, I was sent two new fuzzies and they have been better than pop-ins during dd's nap.

Is it the fab fitted thirsties that you have, or the aio?

treedelivery · 29/03/2009 22:03

fab fitted, got a new one [WOOOooooOOOOo] and a wrap [big WOOooooOOOOooo]. The nappy is like a cusion. Most snug!

Would like to try the AIO when dd bit bigger. Will try bamboo for sure when she gets bigger.

TheNatty · 29/03/2009 23:26

tree also to help with crunchyness, if you line dry and tumble for like 10 mins (even when they are completly dry) they soften right up, this is what i do to save the pennies when i have time to wait for them to dry.

unfortunatly i have found that hemp is unavoidable in heavy wetters, nothing else is absorbant enough.

one of the many reasons i made DH buy me a tumble dryer last month was because i wasnt going to be line drying 2 babies worth of nappies come winter, there wouldnt be anywhere to hang the normal washing

thebluefoxategreensocks · 30/03/2009 09:38

soon: Just to let you know the others have changed their mind about the remaining UDNN I have (too big for their little ones)....so all yours if you want it! If so, £12 Paypal to [email protected]

Just a shame it doesn't work for Benjamin like it's working for your little girl! Guess he's just a boy who empties his bladder like a hose pipe! I'm giving up hope of finding something to work for him! We had major soaked bed on Saturday night using the WNNN with hemp inserts....and so last night I used the bamboo WNNN again (which worked well on Friday!) and we had a soaked boy & bed again! So, I'm on the hunt again! Must see if I can find some Quick Flips, as some say they're good for this kind of wetters!

So, I'll probably be selling these 2 large Wee Notions Night Notions - if anyone is interested! They're lovely nappies, but just nothing is working for Benjamin at the moment!

TheNatty · 30/03/2009 09:50

oh ohhh ooooh!!

both please!!

thebluefoxategreensocks · 30/03/2009 09:52

TheNatty: LOL Is that the WNNNs?? Just putting them in the washing machine now, so can sort out pics & prices for you later, if interested.

soon2befamilyof4 · 30/03/2009 10:03

I keep going on about it, but the french soy that my UDNN works far better than hemp at night for my DD who is a heavy wetter. I am saving for some more and going to look into either getting hold of french soy myself or seeing if there are other nappies made of it. It is lovely and soft for my hard water area (I don't tumble either) and it is excellent at absorbing wee! When I don't have the UD clean and dry I have to use hemp at night and DD is far more boosted up with a huge bum and is still on th verge of leaking by morning and needs changing ASAP - couold do with an extra layer of hemp but too bulky. Don't have any of that with the UD so far so looking into getting some more.

TheNatty · 30/03/2009 10:05

oh yes please the NightNotions. my ellas house are taking ages to get here, i think the website said up to 28 DAYS! cant wait that long!

soon2befamilyof4 · 30/03/2009 10:09

Rachel - missed your message and just got you PM! Yes please! Just double checking - is it large? I am litterally just running out the door but as long as it is large, I will def take it and will paypal when I get back. No signs of labour then? I thought I was going into early labour the other night as I was up all night in pain and being sick but nothing! anyway, off to birthing centre now. Back later!

thebluefoxategreensocks · 30/03/2009 10:21

soon: Yes, it's large - and has the standard tri-fold insert (didn't buy the extra booster, as everyone seemed to think it was OK without it).

No, no signs of labour yet!

thebluefoxategreensocks · 30/03/2009 11:47

TheNatty: Just waiting for washing machine to finish, so hopefully get some photos up for you later today! Obviously they'll have to dry before I post them, but could send 1st class on Wednesday (as long as not in labour then - haha - can't predict these things, so life is a bit difficult to plan at the moment! ) Was thinking of £17 including postage for both of them togther - does that sound OK? Of course, you'll want to see pics first anyway! One is aqua blue outer and light blue fleece inside (if I remember correctly) and the other one is white bamboo with embroidered rainbow on the back and matching poppers of rainbow colours!

TheNatty · 30/03/2009 12:18

sounds good racheal might have to wait till friday to pay you though, i have no paypal funds atm.

Deemented · 30/03/2009 15:55

Hey folks

I've finally got round to having a bit of a destash - you can see what i'm selling here and if you want anything, just PM me on that board - thanks

swampster · 30/03/2009 17:13

Where have you been Dee? You better let me have the Jamtots or I'll send the boys round!

Deemented · 30/03/2009 17:21

Life kinda gets in the way sometimes, yunno? Good to see you though, Matey

Have replied to you 'over there'

soon2befamilyof4 · 30/03/2009 17:31

Right I am back, so will paypal you now for the UDNN.

I will probably sell my WNNN if your interested Natty? Mine has no inserts though which is how I bought it (preloved - I have used 2-3 times). We seem to get on better with the UD so would rather sell some nappies for funds for that.

I am getting very tempted to sign up to be a nappy advisor but not really sure if I would ever sell much?! I have asked some more questions but not sure if I could afford the start up kits anyway at the moment.

Had a scan today - midwife thought baby was breech but it is not so that is good! Had to leave DD with MIL who is anti-cloth and typical her nappy leaked everywhere and apparently it is "discusting" when she pooed in her BBOS and MIL had to "Pick all the poo off" . For a start, I always just tip it down the loo and never have a problem with DDs poo, it usually comes straight off - and then she put a pampers nappy on her which she KNOWS I hate as it causes her really bad nappy rash. . I HATE leaving DD with MIL and only do when nobody from my family are around. Anyway, MIL washed DD's nappy for me because apparently sticking it in a wet bag isn't good enough. No idea what washing powder she used but it STINKS of perfume/chemicals. So might wash it again. ARGH! MILS!

thebluefoxategreensocks · 30/03/2009 17:43

soon: thanks, that's great! Let me know your address and I'll get it sent out on Wednesday!

TheNatty: Got photos taken of the nappies, so will try to upload them later after dinner - meant to be in the kitchen cooking now! Obviously I'm trying to sell what isn't working to fund more nappies for my little boy, but as long as you're sure you'll be able to pay on Friday, then I'll certainly hold them for you until then.
