What words do your children have for things, that actually make sense?

The other day Ds1 (5) was asking me for another 'apple pie-angle'

I realised he meant an apple turnover. Quite clever really!

When my ds1 was younger he called macdonalds the farmers house. took us a while before it clicked!

jollyholly · 21/11/2008 22:04

We've had the bouncealine and armbow. But we used to change the tv with a Troll!

Lionstar · 21/11/2008 22:04

DD, 21 months has:
'nogeys' for the contents of her nose
'elbone' for elbow
'cowpoo' for Calpol
'bugger' for burger (we're working on this one with some urgency)

I'm not sure about them making sense, but DS (2.3) has a few amusing ones.

Helicopter used to be "helicobert", and now is "haroldcopter" (a la Thomas the Tank Engine).

Dressing gown is a "crocodile" (don't ask me!)

Cat food is "weelabix" (well they do get it in the morning).

And the cat is currently known as "buddy cat"

Twinklemegan · 21/11/2008 22:11

Oh, and I think my favourite:

"beep Mummy, BEEP MUMMY!" ie "get out of my way you silly woman".

RomanCandleQueen · 21/11/2008 22:11

Our garden parasol has is known now as the "Barbeque Sun Keeper-Offer".
And corn-cob holders are "Sweetcorn Picker-Uppers"
We watch DVDVs.

RomanCandleQueen · 21/11/2008 22:12

DS1 does exactly the same Twinkle!

Twinklemegan · 21/11/2008 22:15

Lol. Oh gosh I'm on a role now. Humour me people - this way I can come back to the thread in the future and write them all down.

We don't listen to CDs, we "watch on the radio".

NotanOtter · 21/11/2008 22:15

DS1 is also often heard asking for his "fuckin' knife" to which DH & I rapidly reply "Knife and fork!"

splishsplosh · 21/11/2008 22:36

dd calls dummies plugs

Twinklemegan · 21/11/2008 22:38

ROFL splishsplosh!

FfreckleFface · 21/11/2008 23:42

These are so cute.

Little Ff's first word was this week. We are all very excited, especially given then she is already so expressive. She managed to cram what she really meant (Hello, Mammy, I love you and am very grateful to you for looking after me and breastfeeding me for 9 months so far.) into one small word:

Dada

Rofl @ Freckle!
Awww.
Your time will come....

I think Mankymummy's one is great.

We also have 'old Macdonalds'

He used to say he wanted something to 'weat' - memorable phrase at age 2:

'Ds, what happened to all the crispits? (crisps)'

'I weat and I weat and I weat and then I SPIT'

OP posts:
BouncingTurtle · 22/11/2008 07:36

My dss used to call plums, 'clowns'!
I think it is because they reminded him of a clown's red nose.
Oh and 'pla' was plane, and 'Uv' was I love you
DH and I still use 'Uv' now!!

mankymummy · 22/11/2008 08:08

unfortunately I am serious although i dont actually think he's saying fucking as i cant see where he would have heard that, it just sounds like it.

at the moment he's figured out boys have willies and girls dont so i keep getting asked to show him where santa has taken away my winkie .

Mimsy2000 · 22/11/2008 08:27

my son asks for the telly volume to be turned up by saying 'make it noiser'

Tyme · 22/11/2008 13:01

Ds1 asks for music by pointing at the radio and asking me to 'put a song in it'

He called motorbikes 'bikecars' (and butterflies were bufferlies - so cute!)

When I'm sitting on the floor, he tries to shove a cushion under me and asks me to 'open your bum, mummy'

TsarChasm · 22/11/2008 13:04

We know two dogs both called Charlie. One is a male one is female. Dd calls them 'Charlie the He-Dog' and 'Charlie the She-Dog'

ilovetochat · 22/11/2008 13:11

dd likes to point at things in people's houses and name them, this week it was "COCK" followed quickly (thankfully) WITH "TICK-TOCK"

DebsCee · 22/11/2008 13:12

DS1 (4) has always insisted that his trampoline is actually a bouncaline - makes utter sense and now we all call it that!

BBeingpatient · 22/11/2008 13:23

i saw on you've been framed but VAIR funny:

DAD "where are we? we are in miami"
DD "yeah we're in your-ami"
DAD "no miami"
DD "yeah i know, i said, your-ami"

ha ha ha made me chuckle

Lionstar · 22/11/2008 15:22

Had a priceless one this morning when DD (with her Dad) came across a mechanical Santa in the shopping center. When they got home she told me they had seen "Faver Crispy"
