I felt soooooooooo guilty the other day as in a md rush I gave my 3 year old fresh pasta nad pesto followed by strawberries, grapes and apple slices....After watching JO's new programme I feel totally relieved.

Im not a great cook but would never, never, never feed my 3 year old kebab meat or chips and cheese from a take a way!!!!

Cory - of course they will show people who make good tv, ie those we can shout at. Really poor people or those with disabilities are those who don't smoke or have flat-screen TVs and live on one peice of bacon, not takeaways. I can never quite believe the people who live in houses shown on How clean is your house. No-one lives like that really. It's made for TV.

And i'm sorry, but being terminally ill is not good TV.

Your chicken kebabs are, Fio.

Hers were dripping in grease and served up with chips on the other side covered in a cheese like substance.

It wouldn't have mattered if he's showed that gal how to boil water.

The minute life got 'tough' - as tough as it can be with a flat screen TV in a house I'd have given my right arm for smoking a cigarette and saying you had no jewellry when you had on two pairs of earrings and two gold chains - she gave up.

Oh, so stressed, so the kids are going to have to eat £10-£20 worth of takeaway every night.

Any sympathy I had dried up right there.

lucyellensmum1 · 01/10/2008 17:19

Judge judge judgety judge - i suppose these people/programs make you all feel better about your own parenting skills. Fekcing hell.

My daughter eats healthily most of the time, but she has macdonalds AND fruitshoots - sue me.

florenceuk · 01/10/2008 17:22

note I said kebabs PROPERLY made were probably better - I can't believe the veg content of the basil in pesto is equivalent to a mixed salad!

Pasta and pesto is basically salty stodge (healthy salty stodge maybe) - that's why kids like it (and why I stick peas and sweetcorn in mine). Olive oil may be healthy but it's still a fat.

lucyellensmum1 · 01/10/2008 17:23

oooh, chicken kebabs in pitta bread with mint yoghurt sauce - would you STOP i'm starving

expatinscotland · 01/10/2008 17:25

these shows don't make me feel superior.

they make me sad and pissed off.

because there really is a serious problem with obesity levels going up in this country.

eekamoose · 01/10/2008 17:26

This thread isn't about you or anyone like you Lucyellensmum. What an odd thing to post.

SunshineSmith · 01/10/2008 17:27

and bloody Oliver thinks he is god.. and has the magic wand to erradicate bab food habits... fat chance!

PoorOldEnid · 01/10/2008 17:33

he's a fat unhealthy looking bastard anyway and his poor wife looks knackered

expatinscotland · 01/10/2008 17:34

but enid would happily live in his big ol' house in Sussex and ponce around Coco Ribbon on his credit card any day .

lucyellensmum1 · 01/10/2008 17:37

Its probably all bullshit anyway - the kid probably eats organic home grown macrobiotic really. A friend of mine's neighbour was on "how clean is your house" - when the film crew came, they actually brought rubbish with them to make it look dirtier

SunshineSmith · 01/10/2008 17:44

ah, the joys on indoctrinating the masses through television...

Florence - of course the 'veg' in pesto is not significant, thats why the Italians would serve it with a salad or suchlike. And Olive oil is a fat, but aome fat is essential in our diet, our brains are 90% fat and our nerves cannot work without it. That's why they are called Essential Fatty acids. We NEED them, they are not all bad and sit straight on the hips!

captainmummy · 01/10/2008 18:18

I think people who live in the How clean is your house houses are mentally ill. No-one can really live like that and not see a problem. Altho I do laugh when Aggie says how dangerous levels of hyoabuocena bacteria are, I think well why aren;t they dead yet then?

nothot · 01/10/2008 18:22

In fact I remember reading about a new treatment for epilepsy where the sufferers are to eat foods high in fats - cream, butter etc - for just that reason, ie the nerves cannot work otherwise. They also have to eat really healthily otherwise to compensate.

But not kebabs.

Now that does not surprise me at all!

It's reality TV, folks, not reality. I bet they bribed those kids to sound really feckless about their eating habits too.

Megglevache · 01/10/2008 20:25

Cory you do have a point there alot of stuff that goes on in reality shows behind the scenes is very staged to shock and make the subjects look like cocks interesting indeed

expatinscotland · 01/10/2008 20:26

Oh, no, I know people who live in houses that could be on that show and they're not mentally ill.

The whole thing just sort of got away from them and spiralled out of control.

Megglevache · 01/10/2008 20:42

Yes Expat I know a few who live like that my in laws included. They have about 60% of the house that you can't walk into it's like Mr Trebus's house Such a waste of a beautiful house.

expatinscotland · 01/10/2008 20:47

my ILs, too, meggle.

a house the likes we could only dream of having and would be soooo proud of.

Megglevache · 01/10/2008 20:52

Yep, I hear you.

I sit in the lounge and play interiors porn in my mind, thinking "one day".

Never mind at least I've got all my own teeth and a sense of humour. see?

expatinscotland · 01/10/2008 20:53

oh, it'll all go to BIL, who lives with them and makes them look like clean freaks.

it's a lost cause.
