Chaotica - She has been referred because she seems to be intolerant to dairy products mainly yogurt and cows milk (lots of poos and straining )

Having a lazy day here this afternoon but have to get myself organised and go out and buy nappies.

DD surprisingly good today....long may it last

Jewelsandgems · 28/10/2008 13:58

grrrl and chaotica re the christmas thing, I will not say anymore than this: I think my idea for my children is the exact thing you are trying to avoid!

  • Massive tree - check!
  • Lights all over the front garden - check! [albeit clear and dainty]
  • christmas carols and CDs played at family time as background music - check! (and this sometimes makes DH and I feel all happy and welled up!)
  • Lots of talk of christmas lists, reindeer, sleighs, chimneys......you get the picture!
Chaotica · 28/10/2008 14:29

Grrrl - I like the winter festival idea too (sort of what my mum had in mind I think when she was claiming the right to a pagan christmas)... My sister and I used to invent 'traditions' for a variety of reasons around that time of year (including the annual mince pie throwing competition because my mum always insisted on using up ancient mincemeat ). But Jewels don't get me wrong - I'm a big fan of tinselly, sparkly trees with lights on and loads of food... I can leave the carol CDs well alone though!

Ihatelazytown - I hope the paed has some good advice for you. I have heard of children growing out of dairy intolerance, so I hope your DD is one of them. After months of digestive problems DS improved loads at 11m - I have no idea why (but I'm certainly happy about it). Not as serious as your DD though.

George grew out of his intolerance at around 2yrs btw- guzzles milk at a silly rate now.

Oh blimey, what's happened...it's not even Halloween yet and all you ladies are singing Noddy Holder!!!

FWIW, I am Catholic and take my girls to church every week, DD1 loves going (really!). We love Christmas in our house, big tree, lights etc etc, but I also, because of my faith, talk to DD1 (DD2 too little!) about what the 'real' meaning is. I have got her a fisher price little people nativity set to play with in December each year (until she is 18 ).

I love all the outdoor lights so much, I think they should be called 'winter lights' not Christmas lights, and I think we should keep them up until at least Feb cos January is soooo miserable!!

Had a good day here. DH on 4 days off.

Got a fab evening planned tomorrow, I'm going to my Sister's for dinner and to watch SATC and to discuss her wedding (just booked it for Aug next year!). She lives about 40 mins away, not too far, but thought it would be nice to have a glass of wine or 2, so DH said...."why don't you stay over? I'm here Friday to get the girls up" .

so excited about having a lie in!!!!

SpookyGrrrl · 30/10/2008 05:50

ooh a night away luckypumpkin! Lush!

i'm having a really terrible time here sleep wise- we've had hardly any sleep for over a week. Both DCs have been waking around 4-4.30am, George is a nightmare and we keep sending him to bed but he keeps getting up and then we give up and one of use gets up with him. Dyl has started waking up too- think he's getting more teeth. I've started lying next to George when he wakes up and making him lie down- it's awful because he gets really upset at first (took 30mins to get him to go back to sleep this morning, but he did in the end, for another 30mins)I'm hoping it'll break his routine and show him he must stay in bed, even if do feel almost cruel.

It's Dyl's 1st Birthday today- i've made fiary cakes which i'm going to ice later. PIL coming over for an hour about 5pm, so i'm going to lie in the bath then

They're having the DCs overnight Saturday. I can't wait for a whole night of sleep (hopefully) and not being woken at 4am. And they offered, so i can't feel guilty.

God i've been awake since 4am, and got up twice in the night. I may well go to bed by 8pm tonight.

Have a good day everyone!

LuckyPumpkin74 · 30/10/2008 08:25

Happy Birthday Dylan!!!

SpookyGrrrl · 30/10/2008 09:20

god i've made really shit icing. I've covered them in sprinkles now in the hope nobody will notice.

Chaotica · 30/10/2008 09:27

Happy Birthday Dylan!

Lucky - You're right: we should get Halloween (and bonfire night) over with first before we get too enthusiastic about Christmas... Think I was getting confused there as there was snow on the way to work.

I am so of you people getting a night off - Have fun!

But I'm off to playgroup today so that(as Freya would say) will make me all happy .

Chaotica · 30/10/2008 09:29

lol at your icing comment, grrrl - I can never understand why motherhood is supposed to turn us into master confectioners and talented crafts people.

Jewelsandgems · 30/10/2008 15:24

Happy Birthday Dylan!

I understand chaotica, I am all up for putting up the right now. And Lucky your christmas sounds like my kinda christmas - got me thinking about getting a nativity scene too

Both girls are eating so have a rare opportunity to MN and am so ready for the weekend. Freya needs new shoes and cot bed pillow, and Izzy needs some wintery clothes and maybe one of those bonnets where you tie under the chin [so cute emoticon!]

Went out last night to halloween party and feel a bit shit today, but had a good time and my horns looked awesome everyone said so....

Anyway, the girls have finished their food so time to have fun and play [yay.]

xx

Chaotica · 30/10/2008 17:30

Seem to have spent the day no more than a second or two away from a tantrum (although there haven't been that many - just ones that I've had to redirect)... I'm knackered! And in a terrible mood myself now .

What's more, DD won't nap either...

Hope you're enjoying the fairy cakes, Grrrl

Chaotica · 30/10/2008 17:31

Added to the above moan, I'm supposed to be taking DS for the MMR tomorrow... Maybe I'll give it a miss for this week.

LuckyPumpkin74 · 30/10/2008 18:10

jewelsandgems How old is Izzy? My Mum hand knitted my girls some 'bonnets' with ribbon that tie under the chin....I have 2 but only need one. Let me know if you want one for Izzy and I will happily post you one. One is baby pink and one is dusky pink.

Just on my sisters laptop, while she cooks me risotto!!! Had a photo text msg from DH of DD2 with a face full of butternutsquash!
Don't mean to make you all but it is soooooooooooo nice having some time away

LM x

Chaotica · 30/10/2008 18:16

Enjoy, Luckypumpkin!

Jewelsandgems · 30/10/2008 21:04

Definate Lucky and Izzy is 10 months - the bonnets sound gorgeous and definate yes please if you have one to spare! [and size is right obv!]

We have a weekend away - 2 nights! - in Feb as my husband is taking the staff for a clay pidgeon shooting weekend, and I am being the hostess (not in a car-keys-in-the-bowl kind of way, might I add!) so that is our next time away [can't wait emoticon!]

You know though, when I am away I feel like I should be here, and when I am here I cannot help but indulge in thoughts of being away! Arrgh! No win situation

Cazwa · 30/10/2008 21:49

Hello everyone! Sorry Ive been away so long, its been absolutely manic here. Its been my birthday, Billy's 1st birthday and Ive just literally today come home from a work AGM, conference and award ceremony all being held on the one day which has involved a TON of work on a piddling two days a week part-time.
I am now on easy street till xmas as I have loads of holiday and lieu time to take and nothing very important work-wise now - HURRAH!!!!

Children-wise sounds like Im in the same boat as most, slowly getting them to adjust to the clocks change, what an arse. Billy just got his 2nd front tooth and what a fuss that has been. They both have colds and I left them this morning in foul moods with DH while I gladly went to work but I have a whole day tomorrow with them. I have my fave playgroup to go to then a little halloween party at a friends in the afternoon which Im looking forward to.

Im sure I'll be on tomorrow having a moan, the past month has been really hard but its all a blur and I cant remember the bad bits now. Anyhoo, Im signing off with a big and would just like to declare Im xmas bonkers along with Jewels!

LuckyPumpkin74 · 30/10/2008 22:36

jewels you can email me at luckymummy74 at yahoo dot co dot uk. Send me your address

Chaotica · 31/10/2008 16:50

Happy Halloween everyone

We have a huge pumpkin lantern (mainly courtesy of my american cm who carved the face and had DD take out the seeds) and not enough chocolate if the whole street comes around (I went to buy more today and there were children queuing out the door ).

OTOH DD has been a delight today - so different from the tantruming monster I had to deal with yesterday. I'm wondering if someone swapped my daughter for someone else. She got to see (and touch) a snake when we went into town too - she was too young to consider being frightened.

Just found out that someone at work has chicken pox... Watch this space...

Jewelsandgems · 31/10/2008 17:25

Hi Lucky I have sent you an email but if you can send me a quick reply before I send my address [just want to make sure it is you before I send off my address!] Thx

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! to you all!

Am not looking forward to the doorbell waking up Izzy but it's just one night - what can you do?

LuckyPumpkin74 · 31/10/2008 20:38

will do jewels xx
