Hi all

I chickened out of carving a pumpkin and went to £ shop and bought a terracotta one

Seemed to have worked as have had LOADS of trick or treaters at the door to the point where I thought i would run out of sweets Oh well less for me...which is a good thing i suppose

SpookyGrrrl · 01/11/2008 07:27

jewels- we stick a note on our door, wishing them a Happy Halloween, but asking please don't knock as they might wake our babies. Everyone leaves us alone then. Next year i'm going to dress the kids up and ask the neighbours if we can knock with them, and get loads of sweets for the kids that knock our door.

Kids are going today at 3pm, until after lunch tomorrow! I will probably have a little cry at some point, but mostly i can't wait!

Jewelsandgems · 01/11/2008 14:59

grrl that is a good idea although Izzy never made a sound despite lots of giggly trick or treaters. And we gave away nearly all of chocolate and a good time was had by all. Freya was all excited looking out of the window with me, at all the decorated houses and I kept making whoo whoo ghostly noises

We went shopping today, got some new shoes for Freya, little dark red patent girly shoes (will look great with her christmas dress and party dresses) and tried to get a new pair of Next UGG boots in the next size up - all sold out though no luck there But, did get her some snuggly fluffy boot slippers and a very cute hat.

Izzy woke at bloody 4.30am this morning and there she was, in the corner, fluffy rabbit stuffed in mouth, no covers and very cold. So, we have bought her a new 2.5 tog sleeping bag and will try that. But, bearing in mind she is 10 months, can we also give her her fleecy usual blanket? Because I am not so sure she will like bed without any blanket at all (she sniffs and rubbs her blanket against her nose before sleeping)

Anyway girls, cannot wait for Strictly tonight - bloody shame it is on at 6pm though, as I will be busy with bath and bed!

Jewels - I am {angry] about strictly tonight too!!

Luckily DD goes to bed at 6 then planning to bath DS and only miss the first 15 mins or so...but DS might have other ideas!!

Had a bad day today. My neighbour who is in his 70s passed away this morning and I was looking after their Great Grandson (who lives with them) Had to keep him away from front window when they brought body out etc and answer his questions about Heaven ie "How long does it take to get to Heaven?" etc...

Was very

Chaotica · 02/11/2008 00:41

Evening ladies (but I hope you're all in bed ).

Had a surprisingly nice day in the garden with Freya who was very busy getting wet and covered in mud (sitting digging in the middle of the veg patch at one point in her new coat...).

Simpson - - sorry to hear about your day. Poor boy. It must have been difficult.

Jewels - I use a 2.5 tog sleeping bag and blanket on cold nights (and since Izzy can sleep crawl, I would have thought it was safe). I just tuck the blanket in at the bottom so Connor can get out of the way if he wants.

insywinsyspider · 02/11/2008 21:03

Hello all,

I'd like to come and join your madness and get some much needed advice from you all - I have 2 ds's and am pg with dc3, ds1 will be just 3 when dc arrives so not quite 3 under 3 but close!

This was a planned pg but now after day from hell with ds's (ds2 is ill and horribly clingy) I'm starting to doubt my wisdom in having all lo's close together, I can't get my head round how I'll cope, and to top it all I'm back to work mid dec (I still need to tell my boss which I'm also worrying about)

what are your top tips for coping?? anything I need to be doing now whilst still have some energy and time left??

Chaotica · 03/11/2008 00:12

Hi insywinsyspider and welcome . Nice name by the way.

Evening all,

Aaaaaargh - today involved shoe-buying tantrum hell. Thankfully DP was there to carry DD thrashing and screaming out of the shop... And the reason? She wanted the boots we were buying for her anyway (but we had to take them off to pay for). Aaaaargh! I will say no more. (Except "aaaaaargh!" again )

Hope you all had a good day.

Jewelsandgems · 03/11/2008 07:44

Welcome insy and top tips? Hmmm well from me there arn't any! Take each day as it comes!

Totally sympathise re the SST (shoe shop tantrum) chaotica and we've all been there Just glad you all got out of it in one peice and with the chosen boots.

Well we had a good day yesterday, but a bad night. Well, Izzy woke about 0430 - same as yesterday in you recall - and with bunny stuffed in mouth [shall I remove the bunny?] but this morning she has the tiny bottom ledge of a brand new top tooth so maybe I can forgive her. God Freya was totally different to this! From 9 months she would go to sleep at 7, I would wake her at 6, she would be all smily and laughy....but Izzy...[yawn emoticon]

Anyways, it is cold and frosty here so lots of hat-wearing going on today [except for Izzy who just pulls them off right away - hence bonnet - thx LM] and mittens.

Wishing you all a good day xx

LuckyPumpkin74 · 03/11/2008 10:28

you girls need sky plus (for watching TV when it suits you, i.e. when the kids are in bed!!) It has literally changed my life...for the better. Anyway, I know it's expensive, just one of those things DH wanted and now I'm glad he got it .

Sorry, just skim read thread so can't remember who said what, but I always just used a 2.5 tog sleeping bag with DD1 and now DD2.

chaotica at your DDs tantrum...poor you! Is she better today?

insywinsy Welcome. I can't help you I'm afraid. TBH, I struggle enough with two, so anyone wanting 3 deserves a medal in my book.

Chaotica · 03/11/2008 23:50

Evening all

Today DD is delightful once again - SST all but forgotten (I love the fact you've got an abbreviation for it, Jewels ) Oddly though, she does tend to remember her tantrums and report them calmly later - so I have to be careful: to her they make sense ... Actually, I can remember crying every week at the end of my favourite tv programme when I was about DD's age (I grew out of it eventually!)

SpookyGrrrl · 04/11/2008 08:13

aaaaarrrggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh. Sleep deprivation hell here. I need hot chocolate, a cuddle and 8 hrs sleep, in that order.

Chaotica · 04/11/2008 09:47

grrrl - virtual hot chocolate and virtual hug before I go to work? (sorry it's the best I can do)

(Rather sleep deprived here too, but probably not as bad as you...)

LuckymummyBigFatTummy · 04/11/2008 22:17

Grrl Things any better? I can't imagine how you must be feeling, DD2 woke at 5am last night and I ended up after half an hour, giving her her milk. I felt sooo ratty today due to the very early morning (I also have raging shoulder pain ) so I was ^definitely* SMFH today.....

Shouty Mummy From Hell .

SpookyGrrrl · 05/11/2008 04:29

well, i'm posting at 4.30am, so you can probably guess. Dyl has a chest infection, so he's got to use an asthma pump with a little mask

JustKeepSwimming · 05/11/2008 06:11

grrl - poor you & ds

i'm up early too, ds1 had a few post-6am mornings, then 5.15 yesterday...5.50 today. counting it a 6 for a smiley face on the chart!

ds2 up once or twice a night for feeds, or just awake sometimes. sleep deprived? just a bit!

not keeping up very well on here but i do pop in and read every now and then!
keep going everyone, it must will get easier

Jewelsandgems · 05/11/2008 13:30

Afternoon all,

Sorry to hear you are still having a rough time grrl. The mask sounds awful

waves at JKS

I got accosted by an Avon women today - not the kind that deliver the brochures, the kind that recruit them. Anyway, I was crossing the road and the actually stopped her car to ask me if I fancied it, so naturally I said 'no thanks'. And she was not happy with my response! She kept going on about how much money I could make and that not everyone has the opportunity! FGS this is doing the Avon, not becoming Matt Damon's personal snog tester! She was very patronising and said that it would give me a bit of extra money 'if times are hard coming up to christmas.' I think she thought I was a singe mum on the dole or something! [Now I am not meaning to cause offence to any of you which are single parents, nor clamining benefits] I was outraged though, as I was pushing my P&T, had on my real UGG boots, purple tights, a new dress, nice jacket, hat and scarf - the girls were dressed in babygap. I must give of a desperate air or something !! !! !!

The worst thing is, I am considering doing it.....

forevared · 05/11/2008 17:05

Hi all, only just found this thread. So busy asking advice everywhere else I haven't had time to read through the entire 24 pages.

I've got ds1 2.10 and ds2 7 months. Just started back at work last week and (is this terrible?) almost enjoying it - adult conversation, filthy jokes, swearing, etc... Still find myself humming Thomas the Tank Engine though.

SpookyGrrrl · 05/11/2008 18:39

forvared- nothing wrong with work. I love it! Get to eat lunch in peace for one thing!

will catch up properly later- putting George to bed

simpson · 05/11/2008 20:20

Hi all

Grrrl - poor Dylan (and you)

Had a bad night here too last night. Ds was complaining his ears/throat were sore. Gave him as much calpol/nurofen as I dared and he was still sobbing in pain

Brought him into my bed and relegated DH to sofa. It was like sleeping with a box of frogs!! 2 hrs later DS FINALLY asleep then cue DD to start. Grrr....Think I had 2hrs sleep all night.

Ds been to doc, no infection so keep doing what we are doing...

He is due to start pre school tomorrow and has been looking forward to it all week...

Chaotica · 06/11/2008 00:10

Evening all [yawn]

Sorry to hear about Dyl, Grrrl. Freya had to have a 'breather' as she called it last winter as she developed asthma symptoms and several chest infections. It was a miserable time for her but she's fine now (hope she will be all winter) - the inhaler and mask really does work but it's horrible to have to use it. I hope Dyl is better soon.

Forevared - Welcome! I love my work too (although I'm knackered most of the time ).

DS actually gave me a good reason to be up in the middle of the night last night checking on the US elections. (Went back to be quite quickly though which stopped me being suckered in for hours of coverage and a hellish working day today after no sleep at all.) (Could this actually be the first known advantage of night waking?? )

Jewels - an avon lady? PMSL It is so you I was accosted on the way to the final viva exam to get my doctorate by someone who tried to convince me to train as a "nail technician" Now I used to have very nice nails in my pre-children days but I really think he was onto a loser... (Who knows: maybe I'd have been more successful that way? )

SpookyGrrrl · 06/11/2008 07:53

Morning all (yawn!) 4am again here but DH got up and i had an extra hour (which i deserved having gotten up 3 times in the night)

jewels- i think the only one with an air of desperation was that woman- if she made that much money, she wouldn't be accosting people in the street.

The pump and mask have really helped.

Hope everyone is good. Must get the kids ready before CM picks them up.

Chaotica · 06/11/2008 12:48

Another sick child here : DS has a temperature and is grizzly as hell (I'm hoping it might just be teething but I'm not so sure). Just about to dare to go to playgroup for DD's sake... (it might be more trouble than it's worth) [gritted teeth emoticon]

simpson · 06/11/2008 16:30

Sorry to hear that lots of Dcs are ill

DS managed his first day at pre school fine and actually ran in while I was struggling up the 3 steps with DD in buggy. By the time I got inside he was elbow deep in sand pit No fears about being left at all!!

However since coming home has been grizzly and now has temp. So out comes the nurofen again!!

Chaotica · 06/11/2008 17:45

Afternoon, all.

Glad to hear your DS did well at preschool, Simpson. (Although not so good to hear that he has a temperature again.)

We all had a good time at playgroup; although DS was rather clingy, he didn't moan and cry throughout (except when I wouldn't let him go on the slide for the 100th time), but now he's sick with a high temperature again (so he must have the same as your DS, Simpson ). I might have to take him to the doctor's if he's still ill tomorrow - I have no idea what the problem is. I haven't been to my GP for ages though - they're probably wondering where we've been...

Jewelsandgems · 06/11/2008 19:16

Yes, glad all was smooth at preschool today simpson and I am glad it is a while off for us. Saying that, Freya is growing up so much right now I think she'd be well up for it!

We had a nice day and my mum came up for the day [this means eating cream horns and Twirls for most of the day]

PMSL too chaotica about the avon sitution. So, I asked my mum if she could imagine me doing it and - after looking aghast - she reminded me my cosmetics were Mac and my perfume is Chanel. On the other hand, she said I was one of the most persuasive people she knew, and if anyone could sell avon, I could! Agree though grrrl I thought she was asking directions! Not trying to rope me into the avon cult! Maybe next time I will go out as in on a clandestine operation
