Makes me wonder how often it's done....

My kids are at an “Outstanding” private nursery. After lunch and before the morning pick ups (12.40-1), some of the younger ones have a nap, and the older ones have 20 mins of watching something on the TV (Ben & Holly etc). This is in the toddler / pre-school room, there’s no screens in the baby room.

I don’t have a problem with it at all, both of my girls have a blast at nursery (well my eldest has just started school but she did), they do so many enriching activities and trips - 20 mins of wind down tv isn’t going to hurt. Every nursery I looked at did something similar, as do all my friends kids nurseries 🤷🏼‍♀️

I bet you a shiny sixpence that they didn’t do that when OFSTED were there.

Not that I hold out much admiration for OFSTED and moved my own dc out of an outstanding school nursery after half a term.

So they were "watching telly" really.
Quite normal for childcare - especially when children are there all day.

No it’s not. And it’s really bad for a 2 year olds brain development.

And if parents objected to that?

If parents object to a once a term screen viewing as a treat there’s really no hope.

Yes. TV I want to watch.

Bare in mind I work m-f.

I don't put on kids shows. On the weekends I've been blessed with good weather so it's easy to go outside..not sure what I'll do at 4pm darkness

I'm just concerned I don't know how much they have now

Could you ask the nursery how much time is spent with TV/tablet and what is being watched? You can then decide whether you think it is acceptable and in line with what happens at home.

Maybe not, but the point is it’s a decent nursery, with very low staff turnover and a wait list until 2027. Done right, it’s not a problem.
