What is appropriate baby wedding attire?

DC1 has his first wedding next week. He’s 6mo. Can I get away with his special Duns dungarees with oranges on, or should I get him one of those little rompers that look like fake suits? I was thinking maybe this one from M&S:

www.marksandspencer.com/2pc-cotton-rich-top-and-bottom-outfit-0-3-yrs-/p/clp60578681?extid=ps_ps-gpla_ggl_kw_ch__-UK-_-_baussc&gbraid=0AAAAAD7g6bTaG95i2dRJwVaaoD9LsVosk&gbraid=0AAAAAD7g6bTaG95i2dRJwVaaoD9LsVosk&gclid=CjwKCAiA_vKeBhAdEiwAFb_nrXdql607LXqOOpULgVU06wEDzDxdTeqP5s--EYhzC8KRORG5cKSrtBoCRFgQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

as an aside definitely not this one from Next, the poor baby looks so uncomfortable!

Gosh, more negativity about my lovely dungarees than I expected! 😂 Left to my own devices he spends all his time in bright second hand flashing scandi-style prints so I’m glad I checked. I have a few even louder outfits I was going to take as back-up (the classic frugi rainbow romper anyone? A nice vegetable themed two piece?)

I like the dungarees, but they're not very wedding. A similar pair but in a plain colour or less loud pattern would look nice.

For transparency I really don't like the fake suits baby outfits and much prefer a nice comfy baby outfit.

Haha the dungarees are lovely for every day! Definitely for once he's had his inevitable poonami.

@RosesAndHellebores I am very proud of them, I bought them new (in the sale) because I liked them so much

They're bloody awful!

Outlookmainlyfair · 03/02/2023 22:17

Whatever is comfortable, he could well make a mess of whatever you dress him in so you will need a change anyway.

DS3 attended a wedding at 4 months old. I found a really cute long sleeved vest with a soft waistcoat and bow tie attached to the front, with matching soft jogging bottoms set in H&M which was pretty much perfect baby wedding wear.

This is this season’s version: www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.0866528003.html

Oh that's very cute and looks comfortable

anon2022anon · 03/02/2023 22:18

@snorrrlax no negativity about the print at all, my little one has the blue dress in that. If you're not part of the scandi/ Duns groups on facebook, you should join- you get some great bargains.

ShirleyPhallus · 03/02/2023 22:19

The dungas are nice but not wedding appropriate

Agree to get on Vinted and get something similar to the H&M link posted upthread, that’s perfect

I hate babies in jeans as an aside, they always look so uncomfortable

I was gonna say just put him in a long sleeve white vest with black trousers on but this set is literally perfect. Cheap and cheerful and it’s a lovely outfit.

The M&S outfit is a no and the romper looks like you’re taking him outside to feed the ducks. Defo not wedding appropriate

Sorry but it’s horrible. I have a real problem with dressing babies in bow tie / tie outfits they just look so silly

I love this style. But no not for a wedding unless you know its going to be a LOUD bold colour wedding rather than a traditional one?

Just to save people the bother of clicking on the H&M link.

DS looked adorable in the 2021 version. And he was comfortable.

To my SIL's wedding DD2 (3mo) wore a lovely white sleepsuit with small pink flowers on Smile my dad got married when she was 6mo so she had a little white and pink dress on to match the flower girls but she spent most of the time asleep or feeding tbh then we switched her to a sleepsuit for the evening 😊
My number 1 rule has always been comfort for babies!

snorrrlax · 03/02/2023 22:22

Thanks for the suggestions. @hryllilegur those H&M ones are cute! I should clarify he’s in 9-12 month size now (he’s long) so sadly they won’t fit him!

I think something exactly like the duns but in a plain colour?

hryllilegur · 03/02/2023 22:23

There must be similar stuff in bigger sizes. It can’t just be H&M that see bits on the front of a vest. 🤣

That look great. Far more classy than the citrus fruits and the backup meat and two veg that op has planned 😬

SecretVictoria · 03/02/2023 22:24

I love the dungarees, I’d definitely take him in those!

Teeny tiny little bird blazer?

Hmm literally hadn’t occurred to me to get myself some adult woman trousers in this print, what a good idea! 😂

I'd go with the dungarees. Who'd look at a 6 month old and think they're inappropriately dressed?

Aww that’s cute 😭 he’s never worn an indoor jacket! Also has the requisite rainbow sleeves.

I hear you. It’s only for a handful of hours for a wedding though. The link above was more or less just a waist coat with a little bow tie attached. Looked very comfortable for a baby to wear
