What is appropriate baby wedding attire?

DC1 has his first wedding next week. He’s 6mo. Can I get away with his special Duns dungarees with oranges on, or should I get him one of those little rompers that look like fake suits? I was thinking maybe this one from M&S:

www.marksandspencer.com/2pc-cotton-rich-top-and-bottom-outfit-0-3-yrs-/p/clp60578681?extid=ps_ps-gpla_ggl_kw_ch__-UK-_-_baussc&gbraid=0AAAAAD7g6bTaG95i2dRJwVaaoD9LsVosk&gbraid=0AAAAAD7g6bTaG95i2dRJwVaaoD9LsVosk&gclid=CjwKCAiA_vKeBhAdEiwAFb_nrXdql607LXqOOpULgVU06wEDzDxdTeqP5s--EYhzC8KRORG5cKSrtBoCRFgQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

as an aside definitely not this one from Next, the poor baby looks so uncomfortable!

Won’t he just wear a baby grow?! (I have no kids)

heldinadream · 03/02/2023 21:50

Dungarees with oranges on sound much nicer than the m&s fake suit!

BurbageBrook · 03/02/2023 21:51

A baby can wear anything I think!

Dungarees with oranges sound fun. Nobody is going to mind and at 6 months he might ruin an outfit or 2 with poo explosions or vomit anyway

Onthegrid · 03/02/2023 21:57

I like the M&S one and cream if you are not weaning is probably a Ok colour

RosesAndHellebores · 03/02/2023 21:58

Can we have a picture of the dungarees with oranges on please. They have to be nicer than what you have just posted.

snorrrlax · 03/02/2023 21:59

I think nice bright baby clothes e.g. his special dungarees are so much more fun, but I have to say I would quite like to see him in a little fake man suit, they do quite make me laugh. Maybe not if I have to cough up £20 for it though!

I think the romper is cute but the dungarees sound lovely.

The suit looks awful doesn't it!

SparkleSpangle · 03/02/2023 22:00

If you buy something special he will have a massive poonami all over it before pictures. Just put him in some thing move and comfy. Also have lots of changes.

snorrrlax · 03/02/2023 22:02

@RosesAndHellebores I am very proud of them, I bought them new (in the sale) because I liked them so much

The M&S outfit is much more appropriate than the orange dungarees

DelurkingAJ · 03/02/2023 22:07

We took DS1 in some classic dungarees with a white long sleeved baby vest with collar underneath to a procession of weddings aged about 7 months. Dungarees were pale blue subtle check. Seemed like a good compromise.

It’s hideous but I agree the dungarees aren’t good either. I would go with some nice soft plain dingarees in a blue or red with a body suit, maybe with a little collar. I hate babies dressed as old me just as I hate babies in babygrows after the first 3 months or so

GoodChat · 03/02/2023 22:09

A polo shirt and some baby trousers or jeans would be fine OP.

Not that romper.

RosesAndHellebores · 03/02/2023 22:10

I think the dungarees with oranges are nicest. They are cool and fun. The pretend suits look *anky.

I love Duns, and my 3 year old lives in the brand, but they're maybe a bit loud in the print for a wedding. Put them on him every day! Those prints are made to be worn 😊
Is he in 6-9 months? What about something from Little bird? And I would definitely look at Vinted, don't pay full price for something to be worn once

That's lovely. Take him in that.

plumduck · 03/02/2023 22:11

Sorry, whilst I love the dungarees (envy!) They aren't really wedding attire even for a 6 month old. Go for something plainer

I agree, they are only that small once. Don't keep things you love for best xx

DS3 attended a wedding at 4 months old. I found a really cute long sleeved vest with a soft waistcoat and bow tie attached to the front, with matching soft jogging bottoms set in H&M which was pretty much perfect baby wedding wear.

This is this season’s version: www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.0866528003.html

i Would go for something like this (thinks back nostalgically to the days when her children were beautifully dressed and didn’t wear football shirts and joggers 24/7 at the age of 21)

hryllilegur · 03/02/2023 22:15

H&M have loads of similar bodysuit sets: www2.hm.com/en_gb/baby/products/party-occasion.html

ISaidDontLickTheBin · 03/02/2023 22:15

The m&s outfit is ridiculous.

Dungarees are a fab idea but maybe some plain navy ones with a white babygrow underneath. The print ones are a little bit loud for a wedding!

I was gonna say just put him in a long sleeve white vest with black trousers on but this set is literally perfect. Cheap and cheerful and it’s a lovely outfit.

The M&S outfit is a no and the romper looks like you’re taking him outside to feed the ducks. Defo not wedding appropriate
