chloemegjess · 05/02/2008 20:33

Does anybody know where I ca get some preloved nappies and wraps either free or very cheap? I am not fussy, just want to get some more as I have to wash without having a full load, and then they don't dry quick enough so I end up using disposables some of the time! I really want to have my DD in cloth full time, as she gets a sore bum in disposables!

oliviaelanasmum · 05/02/2008 20:35

I don't have a precise figure for my extensive nappy collection ...

I know I have enough to fill a drawer full aswell as 3 buckets. I think I must currently have about 40 shaped nappies and also some prefolds in circulation.

But that doesn't include the blanket box full of newborn/size 1 nappies that both DS' have outgrown. There must be another 30 in there. I am clinging on to them ready for number 3

thebluefoxategreensocks · 05/02/2008 20:48

babyjjbaby: the Kushies prefolds are ok, but quite small (would probably be ideal for a small baby tho). Not like a terry square at all, they're smaller than my small JJ prefolds. Certainly not bulky - they're quite thin, so wouldn't imagine they would contain that much (again, good for newborns perhaps). I got them used, nearly a year ago, soon after my 2nd baby was born (before I started buying shaped/fitted nappies!). But my little boy liked to lie on his tummy a lot, and I found that his clothes and bed always got wet as the prefolds seemed to let the urine just run out of the nappy and wrap (Proraps at the time). So I soon quit using prefolds all together, tho I occasionally use one, mainly for stuffing. I never had that trouble with my daughter, so I think it just depends on the baby - and prefolds suit some but not others. I ended up using the Kushies mainly for burp cloths, instead of nappies, since they're cute!

JingleyJen · 05/02/2008 20:48

somewhere between 70-100. we use prefolds with wraps probably 30 wraps. but they are in different sizes with about 25-30 in each size.

thebluefoxategreensocks · 05/02/2008 21:23

BigBadMouse: the last thing I needed to know about was were to find more nappies! LOL I'm always looking for more, it seems!

Tho at the moment, I'm out to find a Minki Waffle, or something else lined with suedecloth, as I've been told it works like fleece to keep skin dry, but isn't fleece. So my nappy hunt continues!

babyjjbaby · 05/02/2008 21:28

i like the lok of the bub huggers at the mo

OP posts:
BigBadMouse · 05/02/2008 21:32

bub huggers????? Am I missing something here or do you mean BumHuggers??? (I use those for night time [grim] missed them off my list

BigBadMouse · 05/02/2008 21:35

Rachel - I like the sound of the waffle , just the name, nothing else . Quite like the idea of DD2 having a 'waffle bum'...does this make me a bad person??

onepieceoflollipop · 05/02/2008 21:36

chloemegjess I have a couple of pre-used wraps (medium airflow) that I can send you. (don't want anything for them as they were passed on to me)

I also have a few nappies (smaller sizes, various things) that I wouldn't want much for. CAT me if interested or let me have your e-mail address.

p.s. I am not a lollipop agent - didn't even know what one was until recently!

babyjjbaby · 05/02/2008 21:40

sorry meant BUM HUGGERS

OP posts:
BigBadMouse · 05/02/2008 21:43

Ohh, I thought you'd found a new nappy for us to try out .

I'd definitely recommend them for night time. DD has a lovely soft dry bum after being in them all night and she can wee through a disposable at night time no problem. Get the ones with a pocket you can boost with a flannel, MF cloth, or hemp insert if you can. I used an airflow wrap over mine. They take a while to dry though - is that going to be a problem for you?

thebluefoxategreensocks · 05/02/2008 21:50

BigBadMouse: bumhuggers are fleece lined, right? I guess would be a similar kind of fleece to minkis and fuzzibunz? Both of these don't work for my little girl, so my hunt continues for a stay dry nighttime nappy! And probably as soon as I find it, she'll finally be potty trained! LOL

BigBadMouse · 05/02/2008 22:07

Yep fleece lined - was recommending them to Babyjj - sorry for confusion .

thebluefoxategreensocks · 05/02/2008 22:34

no, you didn't cause any confusion BigBadMouse! I just took the opportunity of a mention of bumhuggers to ask what they were made of! Seems everyone (or loads of ppl anyway!) think they're brilliant for night nappies, and since I've never used one, I thought I'd ask. So no need to be sorry!

babyjjbaby · 05/02/2008 23:29

thats what i am gonna try next i think

OP posts:
BigBadMouse · 05/02/2008 23:34

babyjj there's a small one on used nappies finishing in 2 days. I like them a bit pre-used so the absorbancy is good (hemp takes an age to get to full absorbancy which can be a PITA). Doesn't look like it has the pocket though....

rachel They are the only night nappy I use now, Size 2 bamboo little lamb won't fit anymore when boosted for night use .

babyjjbaby · 05/02/2008 23:40

oh is that the 2 camoflauge ones
