I think I have about 75 . I use the Bambino Mio ones, and have some in each of the three sizes so I'm not using all 75 at the moment! I have about 10 covers in each size too. My excuse for all these nappies is that I'm at work all week so can't be doing with washing except at the weekends. At least I only have one in nappies now which makes it a bit easier!

I just received this email re oil, lemon juice and vinegar.

"I have used lemon juice on occasion as a brightener more than a sanitizer - add 1/2 cup to your rinse and hang your diapers in the sun for "natural" whitening. In fact, the sun itself does help act as a disinfectant as a result of UV rays. Grapefruit seed extract (GSE) is known to have natural antibacterial properties, I suspect it would work in much the same way as tea tree oil, though GSE can be incredibly expensive, and at least where I live, tea tree oil is readily available in supermarkets at a reasonable price.

I can't see any reason why limited amounts of either of these products, when used with caution and common sense, would cause damage. Please be careful with acidic liquids such as lemon juice and vinegar, as they will change the pH of the wash water, and if the diapers are left too acidic, it may cause both the fibres of your diapers to break down over time, and may also reduce the normal pH of your child's skin in the diaper area, which may lead to redness, rashes, etc.

Best regards,
April"

it might sound crazy but soaking them in rain water before washing them makes them soft. we have a water butt and always soaked in rain water just cos it made sense re saving water and then a nappy advisor told me that was why i had such soft nappies!!!

Ive got 22 motherease - including two really old ones that my sister gave to me. You can practically see through them but they are really useful for that late afternoon nappy change- an hour before bathtime! I am deliberately not looking at any other makes as sure I will get hooked on buying new ones, although if I have another baby I will want some smaller ones to start off with (or terries) as DS was early and only 6lb and couldnt wear his motherease for ages - until he got to about 8lb at 2 months old!
