Ds is very into Julia Donaldson's books and he seems to have his favourite on rotation. There are some I flipping hate reading over and over - some or just too repetitive but he seems to love those! The Smartest Giant is not one I enjoy... I do like Monkey Puzzle though. What are your favourites/least favourites?

Julia Donaldson’s Husband was once my GP, now Retired! Her books were always amongst the library in our local Playschool, and my Daughter, a Nursery Teacher, knew the words to most of them off by heart!

The Smeds and the Smoos is nice and a good way to introduce racism.

Love Room on the broom.

I'm off to Google the Flum Tree one

I bought the magic paintbrush and a squash and a squeeze yesterday for DD Lovely! I think the magic paintbrush is a new favourite now (it’s been read 4 times since yesterday afternoon). DD is convinced superworm actually pushed the toad into the road so has no truck with it now.

I agree that Julia Donaldson can rock a rhyme, neither of my kids were very into Room on the Broom which was disappointing as it has a lovely rhythm and is a pleasure to read.

On a similar note I bought Christopher Pumpkin by Sue Hendra (? supertato author) last Halloween and some of the rhyming in that is VERY similar to Donaldson’s. Did she really think that parents who’ve read these books about five thousand times wouldn’t notice?!

I love Toddle Waddle for little ones, Room on the Broom for middlies and Paper Dolls for slightly older ones. I'm not a fan of Detective Dog, The Smartest Giant or Sugarlump the Unicorn. I'm also meh about Zog.
