How do I get his temperature down? Desperate

Lo had not been well and has had temperature since last night, hes vomited twice, hes been sent home from nursery early today because they said he was unwell. I've been giving him paracetamol and ibuprofen syrup, timing it carefully. But his temperature is still high. The ibuprofen takes it down slightly but hes still boiling hot to touch. Are there any tried and tested methods that I can try to make my little boy comfortable. Its honestly heartbreaking watching him in discomfort but not being able to relieve his pain.
Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

I'm glad he's getting better OP, it's such a relief when they start to be themselves again isn't it.

The 111 thing - possibly it depends where you are based how well it is working at the moment, but we've used them a couple of times - one last September and got through in a quicker time frame than I generally will to the gp - and they gave good advice. Which was to book us ahead to go to A&E for query heart attack... but it didn't feel 999 at the time as it seemed like a bit worrying but just ongoing symptoms. So I'm very glad we called as it didn't feel serious enough for 999 at the time and we may well have just left it until morning if 111 hadn't been available ...
