Beans egg and cheese

Is half a tin of beans, 1 scrambled egg and a small handful of grated cheese a good enough dinner for a 10 month old? Followed by half a banana and a big yogurt

Sounds good to me!

ChloeHel · 06/04/2022 20:15

@MajorCarolDanvers

I once confessed on a parenting forum to feeding my children turkey dinosaurs. Blush

Some thought social services should have been called. Grin

Now of course I only feed my children quinoa and kale that has been grown in my own garden and watered with the tears of nuns. Wink

This gave me a giggle..watered with the tears of nuns 😂

Mumsnet makes me laugh sometimes.
Of course that's fine! Your child at that age will only eat what they need anyway. Even myself being vegan I think that's a perfectly acceptable meal. High protein and fats, low in sugar and salt as you stated. Nothing wrong whatsoever.

The mums slating you are either jealous their child never ate that good, extremely judgemental or just miserable farts. So who cares what they say?

Hahaha some of these comments- sounds yummy and more than enough.

Guess what my DC ate beans and a packet of sweets today 🤫

MaryAndHerNet · 06/04/2022 20:47

Op this is Mumsnet...

If you're not feeding Balonz on hand reared tofu and freshly picked vegetables brown on the the slopes of mount Quantucktuck and measuring their intake using a quantum scale down to the atomic weight of salt and sugar, you'll get looked down on...

In the real world, we eat sausages, eggs, beans and waffles for our tea with bread and butter.

Covidwoes · 06/04/2022 20:48

Some of the comments on this thread are peak Mumsnet 😂.
My 14 month old (yes, 14 months, not 14 years 🤣) could easily eat that and more! Both my DDs love beans.

HailAdrian · 06/04/2022 20:52

You're in the wrong place, OP. The teeny tinies of mumsnet couldn't possibly eat half a tin of baked beans, neither can their teeny tiny children!

FTEngineerM · 06/04/2022 20:58

If your kid loves beans you’re onto a winner; I’ll tell you why.

Filling, nutritious, can be paired with a variety of things, cheap AND they’re always in the cupboard you will literally never have
‘nothing in’ because you can whip them up some beans and they’ll be chuffed.

Far too much

Quite. No one is suggesting kids be raised on a diet of exclusively McDonalds but the high horses from some posters about children’s diets makes me laugh and despair in equal measure

ladydimitrescu · 08/04/2022 11:52

@Im2022 you need to address your 14 year olds issues with food if she can't eat 2 table spoons of beans - that's an eating disorder in the making.

arethereanyleftatall · 08/04/2022 12:03

Your dh said 'we' should? Twat.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 08/04/2022 12:09

@Im2022

No she can’t eat half a tin of beans aged 14! Half a tin of beans is about over 200g, along with an egg and toast, half a tin is a lot!

And this is half a tin for a 10 month old along with an egg, cheese, banana and yoghurt 🤦‍♀️

But I had my babies a long time ago now, so God knows what people are doing.

It's half a SMALL tin ,it's reduced sugar and the child ate half of it.
Favourodds · 08/04/2022 12:16

LOL. Don't feel you must comment on every thread if you're unsure of your parenting skills. Not all of them are for you and your teeny tiny children do seem to have quite small appetites - have you had them checked?

OP - sounds fine, an unremarkable baby tea.

AHungryCaterpillar · 08/04/2022 12:20

Laughing my head off at the poster who said her 8 and 14 year old couldn’t manage half a tin of beans 😅

Silversprinkles · 08/04/2022 12:53

@Im2022

Not even my 8 and 14 year old could eat half a tin of beans…and the banana and yoghurt too? And he’s drinking milk? Way too much food.
A 14 year old couldn't eat half a tin of beans? HmmConfusedHmmConfused riiiiiiiiggggghhhhttttt

Any 14 year old I know can eat half a fridge in 30 seconds. They inhale food at that age.

Gosh I know MN can be a bit holier than thou about food but that's ridiculous.

SWEETS?!

Can you PM your address please? I need it for social services.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 08/04/2022 13:01

Oh, I have a whole tin when I have beans on toast ... I must be a greedy cow.

Piffy6 · 08/04/2022 13:04

@Ohtheaudacity

Wow I really didn’t think beans eggs and cheese would cause such a debate. Imagine if I’d thrown a sausage in for good measure.
My son has a really good appetite (he's 14 months now but still did at 10 months). He'd have been disappointed that you didn't throw a sausage in! 🤣
mcdog · 08/04/2022 13:12

This is one of the best threads I've read in ages!!!

A 14yr old who doesn't demolish an entire fridge the second they get in from school?? I think not...

One should always have a sausage for good measure Wink
