Hi.

My name is Billy, I'm 31 and I'm from South Wales.

Sadly I lost my lovely wife to Leukaemia only a few months ago and now I am a single parent. Its hard for me but I am strong, and so determined to bring up my 2 beautiful children in a loving environment.

I know this is a 'mums' forum, but I'd really appreciate any tips help or feedback any of you can offer me.

I hope to talk to you soon

Kind regards

Billy

as Nicky said, Lisamarie - not very appropriate...

lulumama · 11/07/2007 20:52

that face means ,

'why is this your first post, or only one as this name, to take the p*ss out of the OP, and you cannot equate your boyf leaving you to the death of a spouse.......'

highly inappropriate

BeetrootHeidi · 11/07/2007 20:52

Mumsnet is a great site, very supportive and a good deal of fun

it is not a dating agency!
we have had no marriages yet (afaik)
and we hate text speak -

Billy - hope you enjoy and find support here.

BeetrootHeidi · 11/07/2007 20:54

I can order more though -

MarsLady · 11/07/2007 20:55

As I'm sure you've been told... lots of dads on here too. But (and I'm sure that this has been said as well) you need another name. It's the numbers you see. Gives some of the MNers the heebie geebies! lol

Welcome and oh yeah............. addiction strikes right about.................................. now!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Billy,
So sorry to hear about your wife. Mumsnet is a great place.

BTW, we live in South Wales, and my dh could do with another man to talk to, or vice versa if needbe.

Take care

3andnomore · 11/07/2007 21:10

Billy, welcome on mn. Really sorry for your loss...it must be a very difficult time for you all right now.
I hope you will fine the support you want and need here.

Sixer · 11/07/2007 21:12

we are here as and when needed. Fancy a fruit shoot, or Loopy shoot as we know them in our gaff.

Judy1234 · 11/07/2007 21:23

Hello. Of course you can join. I know three men who lost their wives last year, sadly and two are bringing up the children, both work full time. It's difficult because you've got your own loss, the children's loss and as a single parent doing everything too.

PellMell · 11/07/2007 21:26

Hello Billy
Welcome to mumsnet. I have found this place extremely helpful over the last few years.
I hope you enjoy it. It can be of real comfort to you and of course provide you with a lot of hilarious stuff to think about.

If I could offer any advice at all it would be to resist the temptation to include too much information on here which could lead to your posts being read by acquaintances in real life(like your names etc)
It might not seem an issue at the time of posting (especially as you have more serious things to think about)
I have not been careful enough about that and have recently been identified. I have had to have a lot of personal info about me and my children deleted. I have also changed my nickname as of today.
I wish you and yours happiness.

ELF1981 · 11/07/2007 21:29

Hi Billy, welcome to Mumsnet

Give it a week and you'll be complaining about your pet parenting hate with the rest of us

eleusis · 11/07/2007 21:30

Welcome Billy. Sorry about your truly dreadful loss. Do you have family near by?

I have a four year old too. She's a right old cow sometimes. Do you fancy a swap?

How are you coping with work / childcare?

Gosh I can't imagine losing a spouse... really, I can't even imagine it.

RubySlippers · 11/07/2007 21:35

PellMell · 11/07/2007 21:42

eleusis · 11/07/2007 21:56

Good grief. Where is Poirot when I need him?

stressteddy · 11/07/2007 22:03

Welcome Billy. So sorry to hear about your wife. Hope you are in some way finding peace with your life. Do ask anything/ say anything/ watch anything you feel like. MN is a great source of good stuff and opinions! Grab a beer and prepare to get hooked!!
Welcome

saggers · 11/07/2007 22:06

So sorry to hear the sad news about your wife. You must all miss her terribly. Your girls are lucky to have a dad who cares as much as you obviously do. Hope you find what you're looking for here.

Kewcumber · 11/07/2007 22:12

He hasn;t gone - he probably still has a real life. He hasn;t been on long enough to have been sucked into the MN twilight zone.... give him a week or two.

I'm a welsh expat in London, raised in Llanelli so big scarlets supporter (though less so now that all the bleedin' matches are on bleedin' Sky)
