When did you stop having baby downstairs with you in the evening?

Ds is 13 weeks and I think it would be better for him to sleep upstairs in the evening as he is constantly getting disturbed. I am worried about SIDS risk though

Do you have a baby monitor with a sensor pad?

Tbh I kept mine downstairs / just went upstairs and sat in the dark

Once they were happily asleep for a major portion of the evening they went upstairs. I would guess at about 12-13 weeks or somewhere round there anyway. I remember texting my husband in deep shock one evening when he was at work to announce I'd got both the toddler and the baby asleep at the same time, I was in the bath!!! and it was only 7.30pm !!!

Little bugger was awake again by 8.15pm of course...

I never had my lo downstairs. He always slept in his crib upstairs since he came home.

It might have been around that time for our twins, we noticed a time when they started getting really grumpy in the evenings after 9pm so that's when we started putting them upstairs in the cot at the feed before to make it bedtime.
We had a sound baby monitor, but for the first week or so I did keep going up to check they were still breathing

Both of mine went into our bedroom from 7pm onwards from about 8 weeks. We live in a flat though so not "upstairs" - still in another room though. Dc1 then slept til 11pm , fed and went back to sleep til morning. Dc2 woke about 8.30, reflux, slept til 10.30, fed, slept til 2, fed then slept til morning.

About 8 weeks, she slept better. We also put her in her own room at 8 weeks (partner snores so no choice really) and it worked out really well. Every baby is different though hun

I've been doing it with my 17 week old for a couple of week now. Mainly now she sleeps through longer

We followed the SIDS guidelines so our daughter stayed with us until we went to bed until she was 6 months. I am pregnant again and will do the same. At 6 months we started introducing a bedtime in her own room.

I think we put DS upstairs at about 6 weeks when we started his bedtime routine. Play, bath, bottle, bed. We have an angelcare breathing sensor thingymjig, and a baby monitor so we could see and hear him at all times. He was so disturbed downstairs and slept so much better upstairs. Also meant me and DP had a bit more of an evening and got to sit and have dinner together. When he was downstairs, DS used to wake up crying whenever we sat down for dinner so we had to eat in shifts.

Mine is 13 weeks and I've been putting her to bed about 8pm for a couple of weeks now. We have a video monitor so I can watch her. If I was at all worried I'd just go and popy head round the door.

I didn't actually know this was recommended until recently (my son is now 3), so my little one slept in the bedroom (my bedroom but I was in the livingroom, of our little flat) since about 3 months old. Since 3 weeks old, he would sleep in the pram outside for naps, with baby monitor tucked down the bottom. (I'm from Scandinavia, where this is the norm).

Mine always fell asleep downstairs with me then when he was asleep he went in his room. I don't really recall when he left our room, I think he kind of slept in his own room more or less at once but he was in hospital until he was 3 months old. This was 8 years ago though!

Somewhere between 8-12 weeks I think

DD went in her bedroom once she was likely to stay asleep until morning. At 3 months that was about 12-1, by 6 months it was more like 7. During the endless night feeds I read everything I could find about babies, and eventually found out that the risk of sleeping alone is about the same as the risk of formula feeding. As everything else I did was according to guidelines, (breastfeeding, not smoking, sleeping on back with nothing in cot except baby in sleeping bag) that was a level of risk I was comfortable with.

My lo was in our room until he was 16 months as well

I admit that I'm on the very cautious side when it comes to SIDS due to family experience but found the Lullaby Trust a brilliant source. It's the tricky thing with SIDS isn't it? We don't know how to prevent it, just how to reduce the risks.

6 months for both dc, ds slept in his moses in the corner from about 13-14 weeks and we tip toed around being very quiet. Dd just wouldn't really settle anywhere but on me until 5 months ish so by then we thought we may as well just hold out another few weeks until 6 months.

DS slept on me until in the evenings until about 8 months. He wasn't disturbed at all, he just got used to the tv and conversation noise. Then I'd take him up when I went to bed as we coslept anyway.

About 16 weeks. It became obvious that in moving her upstairs we were waking her & upsetting her. We put her upstairs in her crib with the monitor and she started sleeping much better. It was just the right thing for us at the time though.

8 weeks. No way would they sleep properly downstairs by that age and they were knackered by 7pm.

All 3 of mine were downstairs for the majority of the evening until around 9 months. Up until then they fed more than slept in the evenings.

About 6 weeks which is when we started the bedtime routine, bath, story, bottle and bed.

12 weeks and 15 weeks. Not for want of trying sooner!

I think it was about 4 months for us - basically when he was starting to sleep for longer stretches in the evening rather than feed/snooze/feed/snooze, and when he would actually sleep in his cot rather than on or next to me.
