OMG I've just been told off at toddler group

My ds and two other boys were running around and we were told to stop them. I didn't really see why but I did. Then I was having a quick chat with another mum and ds started being a bit disruptive with a toy cooker so was on my way to sort it out when one of the old biddies came and told me to control my son - to take my hands out of my pockets and go and play with him - that my ds isn't like other children - that she has been running it for 14 years and if I don't like the rules I should leave.

I am just so angry my ds wasn't behaving any differently to any other toddler.

It was a blessed relief to hand over running of the m & t group to someone else, when ds started playgroup. Thank goodness too for a December birthday as he is now funded and goes 4 days a week.

I have vowed never to run anything ever again. Over the years I've done Riding Club, M&T Group, PTA, Scouts & Residents' Assoc.
There are always so many people sitting on their bums saying how things should be done.

Isn't it odd that with all these groups it is the parents who cause most of the problems ?

God, yes! The lazy bums who sit on their arses the whole time, the prissy over protective types who throw a paddy if someone picks up their child's favourite toy, the ones who let their little thugs push everyone else off the top of the slide, the ones who yap all the way through the nursery rhymes...
Thank God mine are at secondary school!

i actualy told play group leader off last week...its a alrge room supposedly full of toys but each week she brings les and less out?..the kids'always' want the buggies out and during music time, they do play up as they want to play with them whilst everyone else is singing..BUT..last week, one little(quiet little boy) was asking his mummy where the buggies were and playgroup woman said oh no were not tgetting those out, you just cause havoc with them!!!..but not my argument so didnt pipe up...then dd and her firends were dressing up and skipping around the room playing lets pretend and playgroup woman said god theyre just running wild today, can you please stop running around!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So what DO they actualy come here for then?, i said..play leader develops stammmer..er..er..errmmm..well if they cant run round and play in a playgroup with toys that are to be played with in that way, then theres no point in coming is there???...she didnt even have decency to say she was wrong, just slunk into toy cupboard.this week...all prams and buggies out! and kids having fun

beckybrastraps · 29/01/2007 15:45

We put the toys away before singing and snack time.

StrawberrySnowflakes · 29/01/2007 15:49

yeah we do, we put toys to outskirts of room but obv the younger kids still want to play and carry on..then after music they play again(but we leave for mindees dada to collect)

beckybrastraps · 29/01/2007 15:50

No, we put them away away. In a cupboard. After snack it's sing or leave. We are harsh!

StrawberrySnowflakes · 29/01/2007 15:56

ah, good idea, but this is how playleader does it?, i would also personally do music at end with no distractions, but sheactually dragged(seriously!) a buggy of one girl today whilst her mum was there!..she only do it once to me!..so what if the younger ones want to play with buggy quietly, its like showing kids round a candy shop then saying you cant have anything!

SilentTerror · 30/01/2007 11:04

fortyplus · 30/01/2007 14:05

I used to run the local M&T group and I hate other people's children, too!

Greensleeves · 30/01/2007 14:15

Have only read OP, but - what a joyless old bag. I'd have told her to take a running jump.
