Baby due first vaccines concerns ,did you vaccinate your baby?

My babies 8 weeks coming up for and shes due her vaccines next week,
I keep hearing people saying that their evil, and that it's all fake , causing new diseases and stuff,not coming from me by the wau! i just don't know what to think. Its probably just scaremongers, but to be honest i am quite scared because of all the social media and whatnot, and now this other new thing going around that are effecting the unborn, saw people saying that the women were given jabs which caused that to happen. I think i just need some reassurance and some sane people to help me out here lol
Did you vaccinate your baby?
Did they get any side effects? ( did/does calpol help?)

Yes I did 3 times. The NHS aren't doing it for fun and have probably considered the pros and cons. And that is good enough for me.

Yes, I vaccinated DD. She had no side effects at all. She's now 14, totally fine and has thankfully avoided a number of childhood diseases that could have killed her.

Yes of course, vaccines are a marvel of modern medicine IMO.
Yes they had mild side effects, Calpol if necessary.
They are all completely healthy.

Of course I vaccinated, childhood diseases can kill.

Please, please vaccinate your child. Vaccines are safe and always have been safe, it is just scaremongering that you've heard or read. I'm a hcp, both of my dc have been fully vaccinated and both are fine. By "this other new thing going around" I presume you're referring to Zika virus which is not caused by vaccines it is caused by mosquito bites and is only harmful to developing fetuses. Vaccines will not harm or kill your child but measles might.

Yes, I've vaccinated 5 babies. No side effects. Calpol is given to them straight after (at least it is at my surgery) All my dc are all in excellent health, they are 8, 7, 5, 3 and the youngest is 15 weeks. She didn't even have a horrible nappy after the live rotavirus drops.

Vaccines really are a godsend against what can be nasty and potentially serious diseases.

Yes I vaccinated my children and view anyone that doesn't as complete and utter idiots unworthy of children. Not only do they cause problems for those genuinely sick but they can actually kill their child by not vaccinating them. Clearly they think a child in a coffin is a much better blessing than a happy healthy child.

My cousin,who has two kids, told me she didn't get her babies vaccinated (without me even asking) ,she was like "i never vaccinated my two" i said why ,she was like "... I dont believe in them, their dodgy... Just, just look it up,do some research" i haven't done obviously. But the closer i get to the 3rd of February the more anxious im getting!
I got the flu and whooping cough when i was pregnant.

I used to work in a registry office. Every now and again I would look through the old death registers. I was shocked by how many people died from measles. It wasn't a small number. Tb as well. I was 21 then and swore I would protect my future children against these killer diseases, and I have.

The NHS doesn't spend time and money vaccinating for a laugh. They do it because it's been proven over and over and over again to be massively beneficial for the health of almost every individual that receives the vaccines (allergies excepted obviously).

Oh and to answer the rest, the only side effects that actually caused an issue was my ds getting cellulitis once in his arm after a jab (not actually caused by the vaccine but by the injection itself iyswim), very quickly cleared up with anti biotics. Both are happy and healthy and very much alive. Calpol helps if they're in pain too. Don't worry, aside from wanting to punch the hv for making my babies cry they were fine, and your lil one will be too :)

If you do you your research well you'll find that the claims made several years ago that vaccinations were the cause of autism have been frequently and soundly debunked.

Vaccinations prevent a variety of diseases that if your child caught them could cause disability or even death. They are wonderful things.

By vaccinating your children you also add to our society's herd immunity. That means that those children who for any reason cannot be vaccinated medically and/or have a compromised immune system are better protected.

Yes I vaccinated. I didn't think twice. In my opinion not to vaccinate is hugely irresponsible. It's one of those things that parents have a choice in but shouldn't really be a choice in my opinion. Not vaccinating can lead to harm.

As for side effects. I've of mine got a slight raised temp for a few hours after the second lot of injections. Nothing else.

I vaccinated. I LOVE how not only is it free, but it's all arranged for you! You don't have to do a thing. Then you get a child almost guaranteed protected against killer diseases. No brainer.

Get in some baby calpol in case they have post virus fever but that's about it.

Yes I vaccinated my children. It's the responsible thing to do.

I think that people have forgotten how serious childhood diseases can be - measles for example can kill. It can also severely damage a child's lungs or brain. When did you last year of a child dying of measles? Probably never, but that's because of the vaccines not because it couldn't happen.

Vaccinated mine, only side effects she had was a bit moany for a few days (especially after the MMR, that was about a week of slightly above average moaniness) and for the last couple of jabs she had a lump on her leg where the needle went in but that went away after a couple of weeks.

I think its not recommended to give Calpol just in case (used to be that people would give a dose beforehand) but only if its needed.

Give baby a feed straight after or if its possible, during, to calm her and comfort her. Its easy giving little babies their jabs, gets a bit more tricky once they're toddlers and can voice their opinion!

Yes I vaccinated both my DC as did everyone in my ante natal group. No side effects at all.

If your OP is referring to the Zika virus, then that is spread by mosquitos, not caused by vaccines. And anyone who tries to tell you it is, is not worth listening to.

Absolutely yes I vaccinated mine, and I remain grateful to live in a time and a place where we get these things free.

Your cousin is ignorant of the facts, she clearly didn't do her research properly.

I actually would go so far as to say I think it's incredibly selfish (or perhaps just stupid) to not take up the offer of vaccinations if your child is able to have them. I don't normally judge people's parenting choices, but that particular choice wilfully puts others at risk and I find that inexcusable.

It is however right to consider that immunisations can have side effects.

But the rate of those side effects is much lower than the complications rate of the diseases themselves, and they are generally much less severe.

Unless you know you have something in your family tree that has led to severe reactions in close relatives, or there is some other medical reason not to vaccinate, if you want to play the numbers on the risks, it comes down in favour of immunising.

And as you say you had the whooping cough jab in pregnancy, you have shown by your actions that you want to confer immunity on your DC. That can now only be achieved by having the jabs.

I am not a knee jerk pro vaccine person, but why in the name of god would anyone not give those 8 week jabs to their vulnerable baby? What will they do if their child scratches themselves on something rusty without the tetanus jab? Without protection from whooping cough? Without protection against meningitis? I totally get why people are still suspicious of MMR, but that's not what we're talking about here. Where on earth is the evidence against the early vaccinations?

And as for the frankly disgusting and ignorant accusation that national and international public health officials are responsible for zika, I can't be scathing enough. Disgraceful thing for people to say.

I was reading on the mirror's Facebook page about the zika virus and theres people screaming stuff about the government and how vaccines are the cause and whatnot :( it's just so happens that that virus has came up just as im about to vaccinate my baby. I hate it!

Look, no medicine is harmless/100% effective/without side effects some of which in a few cases may be fatal or life changing but by and large vaccines do far more to prevent disease/disability/death than they do harm.

Life is risky, there are no safe options or guarantees so therefore you need to asses which risk you are willing to take. I have had all of my children vaccinated because on reflection I think it's the safer course of action.

Yes mine are vaccinated. Both kids are fine and had no reactions whatsoever.

Yes, there are vaccine adverse reactions and side effects, but I have not yet found a vaccine where the reactions are more likely to occur and are more serious than the complications from getting the actual disease.
