Am I frivolous with money?

As was accused by friend after admitting to cutting vests off dd after nappy explosion rather than do the inside out roll, have to bath and wash her hair etc. Plus don't have to wash said vests either. Friend horrified. Am I a bad person?

it's all relative - if you aren't watching every single penny and you buy tescos vests rather than Monsoon undies then I have to say I'd be inclined to do exactly the same!

i think that depends whether the nappy explodes EVERY DAY or only on rare occasions!

Wouldn't dream of cutting my DS's vests no!

But then I had to ask my DM to buy them for me for DS's birthday so obviously a different set of circs!

i've never cut one off (ver good idea though will do with the next one) but i bin ones like that. But as AamBlossom said, it's all relative

If it was me, the inside out roll, bath and hair wash would have to be followed by a large glass of wine to cheer myself up - so there would be no financial benefit either way.

I recently chucked a babygro because of a nappy explosion, couldn't face washing it. So no, you're perfectly sensible imo!

I would probably cut a vest off today if needed as they are too small now anyway and I refuse to but bigger sizes at this time of year!!
No different to my sister's dp who throws away their ds pants if he messes them! (toilet training him at the mo)

Blimey, I've chucked loads of vests and pants after 'explosions' - cost so little it's not worth the hassle - just drop them in a nappy bag and be done with it!!

Glad am not alone - tho no, do not do this every day (dd grim but not that grim!) Can you really buy underwear in Monsoon? That would begin a whole new chapter of frivolity with money...

I was always chucking out pants full off pooh when we were going through that hideous potty training business. If it was a few nuggets I might have a tip out and wash them but if it was a big splodge, no way! Sorry TMI

aww yeah, the pants of poo. Used to just chuck em - only happened a few times mind you.....but yeah get rid of the stuff quick as you can, have it pop up in Azerbijan or something is the best thing.

I always cut them off if they are covered in nastiness - would you want that stuff dragged all over your body, head and hair? Ugh! Luckily this has only happened three or four times during DS's first six months!

I always take them off downwards. It's a bit of work, but you don't get poo in the hair.

I don't think I'm organised enough to carry scissors about, for one thing.

I'd probably do the same.

When ds was being toilet trained I bought really cheap pants from primark and tescos and threw them out if he crapped in them.

Cheaper than training pull ups

On occasion I have been known to throw out knickers that are covered in poo rather than rinse them out and wash them. In fact threw some out yesterday...

Mind you I did once have a boyfriend who told me that he left his underpants stuffed into a loo brush holder in a motorway station after following through.

Reader,I left him shortly afterwards.

damn. it never occurred to me to cut a vest off following nappy explosion. i always take them off downwards and throw them in a carrier bag. change nappy, get baby comfy, then go rinse vest w/shower nozzle. wash at 60 degrees.

i don't throw them away, either. bernardo's does textile recycling.
