dh and I are off to New York in January and leaving the little ones with Grandma and Grandad for 3 days. Friends have said - how could you leave them for so long, and what if something happens to you both? I wasn't nervous but am now following these comments.
Have you ever been away? I am feeling indulgent and guilty for leaving them!

Normally I'd say no because i'd miss them too much but this afternoon they've been such little buggers that I'd probably say that 3 weeks wouldn't be long enough.

I say go, you'll miss them but they'll have a great time.

Dh and I left our 4 with gradnparents to go to Rome for the weekend when it was our tenth wedding anniversary, so yes I would go to NY without too many qualms. I have to say, I missed the children in a way, and want to take them to Rome to see the things we saw that weekend, but, no, I didnd't feel guilty going without them, and it is so refreshing for your relationship to be away with only each other. I have lovely memories of the weekend, even though it was 16 months ago.

  • never have probs going away by ourselves for a week. Yes we miss them and talk about them all the time we are away and they don't mind us going - they usually stay with Dh's parents. My MIL goes through withdrawal symptoms if she doesn't see them for a few weeks. We are lucky to have the support that we have and I know that some people don't have the back up.

Go away for your few days and enjoy.
