GET OFF YER A*RSE AND TIDY THE FECKIN' HOUSE!

M2T · 09/06/2003 15:35

Did it work?

SamboM · 09/06/2003 15:41

My mum gave me a good tip for this, get a cleaner!

But seriously, if you can't afford a cleaner try just doing one room at a time and promise yourself a reward when you finish that room. Usually works for me

M2T · 09/06/2003 15:42

SamboM - my little motivational speech must've worked coz she seems to have disappeared!

SamboM · 09/06/2003 15:44

Probably scrubbing away as we type...

serafina · 09/06/2003 15:52

Sudden spurt of activity there! ROFL M2T

Seriously though, I used to be very houseproud. Then, as we moved to a bigger house, I got a cleaner - bliss! Now I am a SAHM and we have a smaller house so no cleaner but I have become so laid back it doesn't bother me anymore. Or rather it didn't!

Yes, yes, I know, get on with it!

Aha, there is the problem. Once you have had a cleaner it's very hard to do without! Mine didn't turn up on Fri and I spent 2 hrs after work cleaning and hated every minute. Consoled myself with the thought that at least it was some exercise.

Mo2 · 09/06/2003 16:05

Dare I mention FlyLady, or FL the new GF ??

Mo2 · 09/06/2003 16:05

Oops - meant to say, "Is FL the new GF?"...

SamboM · 09/06/2003 16:06

?? Who is Flylady?

Tigger2 · 09/06/2003 16:39

DO NONE OF YOU LADIES HAVE ANY HOUSEWORK TO DO????, right girls, dusters ready, Mr Sheen ready, hoover poised, bog lid up, flash spray with bleach, FIRE!!!!, by the right turn, ahhhhhhhhh bugger it, theres more to life than a duster!

GeorginaA · 09/06/2003 16:43

I'm a big flylady fan too. Although I don't shine my sink everyday or wear shoes indoors like she says to - her general system though, doesn't suck.

(is this the point where I run for cover or don my flameproof suit?)

Gini · 09/06/2003 16:43

have cleaned the bathroom, was going to clean the kitchen and dining room but had a row with my mum instead - I am now sitting here seething with a glass of red - how bad is that?!

GeorginaA · 09/06/2003 16:48

Gini - horribly bad - pass me a glass.

Gini · 09/06/2003 16:51

okay then, red or white??? I am sooo angry, have been trying to quit smoking too (only 4 days in) and now desperatly want to smoke as well. The inspiration for my earlier cleaning frezy was that dp's due home soon and ds is at my mil so I didn't want it to look like I had laid in bed till 12ish (i did) then sat in the garden sunning myself, (again, guilty!)

SamboM · 09/06/2003 16:56

Who is Flylady???????!!!!!

serafina · 09/06/2003 17:10

You see? There's always something better to do, isn't there?

Flylady - give me a break! I've tried reading about CLearing Clutter which was very interesting and had some great photos of tidy cupboards, CDs in alpha. order, etc. I just need something to inspire me into activity.

Having said that I have now cleaned the living room, including cleaning out the ashes from the last real fire we had (c. 2 months ago).

Perhaps I have lost my housework gene?!!!

look will someone please tell us

WHO THE F**K IS FLYLADY

thankyou

GeorginaA · 09/06/2003 17:16

Gini - either I'm not fussy. Am having a "everyone seems to be in a strop with me" day, so the more the merrier.

SamboM. www.flylady.net - the usual cautions (just like GF, lol) - take what works for you and bin the rest.

whymummy · 09/06/2003 17:16

is it a lady that flies into your house and does the housework for you??

GeorginaA · 09/06/2003 17:16

Um, I meant more the merrier in terms of alcohol - not for everyone else to get in a strop with me. Just thought I'd clarify that.

GeorginaA · 09/06/2003 17:18

No whymummy - it's a housekeeping/cleaning system that helps you build up routines so that cleaning gets done without sucking up huge amount of time or effort. I have to say that I don't actually notice an awful lot of chores now, and those that I do at least I know they're finite and over quickly. (she's a big fan of setting stopwatches and only doing 15 minutes worth of chores at a time - this on its own has made me feel less like I'm a slave to the house).

whymummy · 09/06/2003 17:21

thanks georgina but i was hoping you said i was right never mind if there`s not a cleaning fairy maybe i try that one

GeorginaA · 09/06/2003 17:23

Sorry whymummy I hate to be the bearer of bad news grin.

whymummy · 09/06/2003 17:26
