Wow SG, sounds like things might kick off soon! Glad you survived xmas and have a good new year, and everyone else too

Camomilla · 01/01/2010 12:19

Buon anno everyone!! SG, wow, the first 2010 LI baby'll be here soon!!

just here to switch laptop off while DP gets dressed, as otherwise he'll keep it on all day!!

hope you've all had/are having a good celebration!

off to take artichokes and prosciutto lasagne out of the oven and put in the rainbow trouts and have my aperitivo!

Happy new year!!!

minervaitalica · 02/01/2010 15:00

I hope everybody had a good party (SG, any news????).

Totally miserable down here - it has been raining non stop for something like 12 hours. DH and DD going mental (both like being outside), so my solution is mumsnetting non-stop. And watching the Wire, of course: we clocked up about 7 episodes in 3 days. Am I addicted?

Sputnik · 02/01/2010 18:48

Anyone for leftover lentils at all?
Don-t know what posessed me to cook 1kg of lentils for 4 people on NYE.
Up to episode 4 here and enjoying it, but DH not impressed, he is pathologically incapable I think of imersing himself in a book or film, and can-t get past the American cop drama aspect, oh well.

TheMysticMasseuse · 02/01/2010 19:03

Lol we should probably rename this thread "Little Baltimore". Sorry your dh not getting it sput, i do find it takes a while to really get into each new season, but by episode 6 or 7 i am usually far gone.

can you freeze some of the lentils? I love them, but i think there's a limit to how much you can eat!

leaving for CH tomorrow, in crappy mood as you can imagine. also starting to feel a bit cold/fluey which doesn't help. and when i packed to come to rome i planned clothes for rome weather (ie 20 degrees...), all my snow/subzero clothes and shoes are in the trasloco whcih will not arrive until wednesday...

SG you will let us know as soon as you can right??? v excited for you now. hope you are feeling ok, i remember feeling absolutely horrible the days before having both dds...

Sputnik · 02/01/2010 19:14

Yes there is a part of me already on the mean streets of Baltimore.

Hope everything goes well tomorrow MM, how will you survive 3 days without warm cothes? Sounds like some emergency shopping may be called for. Hope the cold isn-t a bad one, I have spent most of today in bed with mine (so prob just as well we cancelled our meet up as I would never have made it).

Will be having lentils again tonight, after which I am freezing what-s left. I-m expecting a lot of good luck this year!.

Rosa · 03/01/2010 16:08

Hi need to pick your brains re food expertise. FIL bought us an AMAZING Sacher Torte on NY Day. Even a dedicated pig and cake eater such as myself can't eat much at a time. So question is - will it freeze? He got it from one of the best pasticeria's in Rome (where I can normally afford just a cornetto ) so it seems criminal to let it become all dry and horrible.
SG hope all is ok. Any news? MM how are you bearing up? Franca have you taken your Uggs off yet? I was actually peed off with how warm it has been in Rome cos wanted cold weather to help me appreciate how much I love them. As it was yesterday my feet were boiling! Rosa - in bocca al lupo! Hi everyone else and buon anno!

Sputnik · 03/01/2010 18:12

Don-t bother freezing it Gio, I-m on my way over.....

Sorry, I am clueless really but would be a bit wary of freezing, maybe cover with clingfilm?
Glad your FIL turned up trumps for once though, unlike my MIL who we invited for NYE (DH drove 3 hr round trip to fetch her and take her back) only to have her complain about the state of the kitchen floor (which had just been washed) and go on about how we need a cleaner, which she does every time she comes here. Sorry, rant over.

gio71 · 03/01/2010 18:55

lol Sput, kettle's on ready! Bloody in-laws eh

SuiGeneris · 03/01/2010 19:44

MM- hope everything went well today and that it is not too cold.
Rosa: best of luck for the trip!
Lol at lentil overload: we have the same but with chickpeas and dh is busy making a large vat of hummous as a result. Completely forgot about lentils on 31- bad idea esp given current employment situation and economic climate-but guess it is too late now...
Sunday evening back-to-school melanchony here. Even though it is dh and not I who will be going back to the office tomorrow. Last few days have been lovely- lots of cosy cuddle-time on the sofa and the last lie-ins for a while. Bump seems to be getting even bigger and things seem to be getting ready- will keep you posted.

Sputnik · 03/01/2010 21:33

Ah yes SG, enjoy your lie-ins as much as possible. You might not get the chance ever again for a while.

TheMysticMasseuse · 04/01/2010 12:35

SG at sunday night back to school feeling (v good descrption btw). But think what amazing things you have to look forward to in 2010!!!

writing from empty flat in snow- covered geneva. disastrous start- when i left dd1 started wailing that she wanted to come with me, help me unpack, please don't leave me here, i will sleep on the floor it doesnt matter that there's no bed etc etc... i left in tears (although still think it's for the best, and only for 4 days i am going to pick them up on friday). our flight was delayed by 2 1/2 hours and we didn't get home till 2 am (i thought CH was supposed to be organised, but no, airport strike, no taxis etc). i stayed in bed til 10 (poor dh had to go to work at 8...) and then went out to buy a pair of sensible warm shoes. so ready to brave the mean streets of geneva now.

where are franca and pippi? had a dream last week that someone else on LI is pg

Sputnik · 04/01/2010 16:01

Well it-s not me for sure!
Hope you-re doing ok, that must have been heart-rending with DD. It-s the worst time of year to do something like this too. Anyway try and stay positive, you may have an empty flat but at least you have internet!

AllQuietOnThePippisFront · 04/01/2010 16:09

Not me either I bloody hope!!!

Happy New Year to everyone.

You might see me a bit less as I am full of classic New Year Resolution so there'll be less time for f*ing about MN. (Le ultime parole famose!)

TheMysticMasseuse · 04/01/2010 17:27

ok ok so still no word from franca and mcnultysbum (or whatever she calls herself these days...)....

i would die without internet i think...

am absolitely shattered, bought myself some fancy bagnoschiuma and a bottle of wine and off to enjoy both (there's nthing else to do anyway...).

btw gio hope it's not too late but i am almost certain you can freeze your sacher torte!

ciao Pippi, see you on the 15th of january or so

Sputnik · 04/01/2010 19:41

[checks they haven-t started a Little Baltimore thread]

Sputnik · 04/01/2010 19:43

And btw Pippi, you can check out any time you want, but you can never, ever leave

Mcnultysexgod · 04/01/2010 21:03

oh, hello to everyone...

mm, what an adventure! i am envious of your new start...

this is my new name this week....

Camomilla · 04/01/2010 21:08

no, not me, despite the occasional broody moment, I'm quickly reminded we're still waiting for a full night's sleep

pippi, same NY resolution here, trying to get dp to do the same as we got to the stage we were hardly talking at night - and even though I somethimes miss LI chats (though i see we've all had a bit of a break), now we're having a lovely time (probably helped by the xmas break and the rum&coke - so will probably be back more soon once the work/school routine is back on full...). and here he comes, so time to switch off

night night my lovelies

Mcnultysexgod · 04/01/2010 21:13

Oh, yes, MM, what a dream you have had!!!!! You were clearly dreaming about yourself!!!!

Agree computer a killer for relationships, also trying to stay off...

Ciao, my lovelies....

gio71 · 05/01/2010 07:41

Not me MM!!!!!!!!! How is Geneva this morn? Poor you and DD, must have been tough.

Mcnultysexgod · 05/01/2010 10:58

Actually it-s grey and miserable and none too warm here, if that makes you feel any better!

Red cabbage, I cook it with apples or pears in vinegar and red wine, if I have it, you have too cook it for a while. Very nice. Would be good with chestnuts too I reckon, though never tried it.
