Re the Falklands . The forces personel used to call the locals 'Bennys' because they said that they were like the character Benny in Crossroads. This was considered to be rude, so they were told to stop. Being used to following orders they did as they were told and stopped.

They then started to call them 'Stills' which stood for Still bennys
