Apart from pat self on back?

I am thinking of retraining but no idea about jobs. Those are the things I'm considering studying - what REAL ACTUAL JOBS might I get with a postgrad MA/PHD in them?

I mean ones that pay money. Any money. But must be money.

Thanks dearies.

The cultural theory bit you could totally bullshit, Pol. You're just too ethical to do so..

On the Spa Angst thread I did all the philosophers through wikipedia..

If you read the Guardian you are going to get J at the end of your personlaity type.

I quite like 'personlaity' it has merit, what do you think, wankers?

onebatmother · 15/04/2009 22:54

Threadie, it's because your empathy quotient is confusing people.

You are also so unshowy. I often expect people to say 'bloody hell threadie, that is freakishly clever' but it doesn't happen often enough, because you are so understated.

I also think that because you are proper clever rather than clever in a let's-wikipedia-cultural-theory-way people genuinely can't keep up.

As opposed to personclergy? I bet they do have different types.

onebatmother · 15/04/2009 22:56

Are there any openings for intuitive thinker with no follow-through powers d'you think, pol?

Serious question - Myers Briggs is interesting but what do you do with the information once you have it?

The firm had hired a coach at some probably vast expense to tell me what I already knew - ie that I was a cantankerous extrovert (or whatever entj means). Anyone with a milligram of self-awareness would know that they were a cantankerous extrovert without being told. But what next?

Having been officially told, do I wear a badge? Or is there some useful next step that will be vouchsafed to me at another very expensive session?

yes good point quattro.

What I really need is to hire someone to go and tell all the firms who do need a thinker with no follow-through that I can fill their vacancy, despite my apparent lack of quals.

Much worse is Belbin team roles - that really does read like a horoscope, and has nasty nasty types like "completer-finisher" which make me see red mist.

That's what I've always wondered, Quattro - but then I think I'm reasonably self-aware.

I am spectacularly bad at finishing jobs/conculsions. I get bored terribly easily and would very easily leave a job for that reason.

What do you do Lenin? How has MB helped you to diagnose that you shouldn't be doing it?

But doesn't the tautology drive you insane, Lenin? And "Plant" blah blah. Such bollocks.
