DH bought me a beautiful bangle - white and yellow gold one. He brought it into the hospital the morning after I had DD, bless him. He'd been to the jewellers the minute they opened that day.

the surest way to prevent pnd northstar! I'll remember that for the future! seriously tho I always felt it was a joint enterprise with dp, hence didn't expect present. But didn't expect him to be as unremittingly patient helpful and just plain useful in helping me cope with the pain of (induced) labour as he was, either, he was truly amazing. He did get me diamond bracelet when we found out about pg tho (for Xmas) and a leather jacket (size 10 lol!)

tarantula · 14/04/2005 10:07

No he didnt nor did I expect anything. Dont think hed have been capable of buying anythign anyway He was soooo overwhelmed by seeing our dd that he couldnt think straight. I did get all meals cooked and the house kept spotless for a whole week tho

ChocolateGirl · 14/04/2005 14:06

I don't remember him buying me anything (I was in a bit of state!) but he gave me a card with "mum in a million" on the envelope! I don't even remember the card or what he wrote in it, just the envelope! I think this was the day after ds was born. He was in Special Care so I hadn't really had a chance to be a mum to him... and I'd ended up with a C-Section so I didn't really feel like I'd "given birth" to him... but obviously that wasn't the point.

Aaaah, it makes me go all gooey now just thinking about it. It was a really emotional time. And, needless to say, I've still got that envelope. Somewhere...

Diamond earrings and then a few months later an eternity ring.
Wonder what I'll get this time round - bless him (I am being a cow at the moment so don't deserve much - was much nicer with first pg )

PiccadillyCircus · 14/04/2005 14:31

DH didn't get me anything. Was he meant to? He bought things for DS .

not a sausage - not even a bunch of flowers - was absolutely gutted - still am! He is such an incredibly generously natured man - he is supportive, loving, really domesticated, sensitive, - the whole package - I adore him. BUT and big but - would have liked a bunch of daffs or something. I even gave him a card with a load of sentimental slush on it saying thank you for being so great during the worst time of my life (birth of DS)!!!!

Lonelymum · 14/04/2005 14:42

For each child, dh gave me some jewellery (2 rings, a bracelet and a necklace in total) made with that child's birthstone. I am going to give them to them when they are older or when I die.

Gobbledigook · 14/04/2005 14:44

Nope. It was supposed to be an eternity ring on the first one but we've had 3 babies now and still no sign!!

Mind you, it is me who keeps saying 'not yet' as I'd like to get a really nice one and spend a fair few grand on it so I'd rather do that when we haven't got so much else to pay for (which right now is a bloody new kitchen in the house we have moved out of but can't sell )

donnie · 14/04/2005 14:46

a gucci watch but we wouldn't be able to afford that now! our next one is due in 3 weeks so I'll probably get something more modest!

psychomum5 · 14/04/2005 14:50

I got nothing for baby no.1
Nothing again for no.2
Yet still NOTHING for no.3

Finally when I had baby no.4 I got my long awaited eternity ring, only for him to admit that it was only because I had finally given him a son.......baby's 1,2 & 3 were girls...

For baby no.5 (another son...heir and a spare and all that!!!) I got a dishwasher and a tumble dryer......lovely and actually something very much wanted n needed, but still.....!!!

Ooooh, and he had the snip for me too!!!

Gobbledigook · 14/04/2005 14:51
Shock
psychomum5 · 14/04/2005 14:52

Is the shocked face for me gobbledegook????

Lonelymum · 14/04/2005 14:53

I got dh to have the snip after No 4 Psychomum! I didn't realise you had 5, despite your name. What are their ages?

motherinferior · 14/04/2005 14:54

He didn't, but I have to say I didn't mind at all. Never occurred to me he might.

DP isn't very good at presents on occasions anyway - he has been known to show up with a nice pair of earrings, but usually not on cue IYKWIM.

psychomum5 · 14/04/2005 14:55

DD1 is just 11
DD2 is 9
DD3 is 6
DS1 is 4
and finally DS2 will be three in july

Hard work but so rewarding

psychomum5 · 14/04/2005 14:56

Similar to your younger 4:

Ds1 coming up to 9
Ds2 7
Dd 5
Ds3 2

Of course you are the one who told of outings with 16 children during Easter aren't you?

bundle · 14/04/2005 14:58

nothing in particular just little nice things, when both girls were born. i used to be a bit envious of eg my sil's when they got lovely diamond earrings, eternity rings, but now their relationships are over/in trouble i realise that i got a pretty good deal, in a dh who does more than his fair share with family stuff, and trinkety things don't really matter that much..though he has bought me lovely earrings/necklaces for birthdays and took me to paris a couple of weeks ago for my 40th

yours too, ggglimpopo, what a lovely thing to do

psychomum5 · 14/04/2005 15:04

YES I AM!!! (Flame typing, Psycho yelling in her ear )

I didn't realise I was so memorable

PsychoFlame · 14/04/2005 15:24

I got flowers (mainly cos Psychomum had made it clear that he would be shot if he didn't), and I sent him out to buy something for our new daughter... I expected him to come back with an outfit, but he came back with a lovely humphrey's corner story book (had a big humphrey obsession)... so I sat and cried cos it was all so nice!!! Reading it still makes me all emotional!!

Psychomum - the image of you walking down the street to the park with half a class of children behind you will stay in my memory forever!

Bundle - snap! I went to Paris for my 40th over the New Year, although we took 4 kids with us so maybe not the romantic trip that you had. Did you enjoy it?
