DH bought me a beautiful bangle - white and yellow gold one. He brought it into the hospital the morning after I had DD, bless him. He'd been to the jewellers the minute they opened that day.

I got a piano.

fisil · 13/04/2005 22:08

Just after ds was born I decided to buy myself a comfy chair. DP knew the one I had dreamed of for ages was twice what I could afford, so he paid for half of it. I love that chair!

fisil · 13/04/2005 22:09

hatsoff - funny you say that. Before ds was born it was either this chair or a piano. The piano I could have bought outright for the money I had, but as soon as ds came I knew I would have more use for the chair!

hatsoff · 13/04/2005 22:18

am embarrassed to admit the piano doesn't get much use, but although it's mine it was a family purchase - we both grew up in houses with pianos in them, and kind of felt that family houses feel better that way (same way I fel about houses with pets). DD is probably old enough for lessons now. It should get used more because it has a beautiful sound

With ds (first time round) got absolutely sod all - not even a birthday present for my own flippin' birthday which was the day after ds was born.

With dd, after much nagging, I finally got a silver ring with both their birth dates engraved on the inside.

However, first prize for unprompted thoughtful gifts post birth goes to my Dad who turned up at the hospital with a bumper pack of chocolate mini rolls. I'd had gestational diabetes with dd and hadn't had anything remotely chocolately for months. How happy was I to see those mini rolls!

Ds1- no DS2- no DS3- nope.

Pattern there?

Not even flowers.

Actually didn't mind much, as DH used the money to take longer paternity leave with all ('cept number 3, he was made redundant 3 weeks before. Not such a bad thing, 3 months off with baby, could be worse).

Moomin · 13/04/2005 22:37

pair of converse trainers!

Frizbe · 13/04/2005 22:49

I got the mummy doggie soft toy, and dd got the baby doggie soft toy (the one we now can't loose or it means no sleep, ever!)

ds- I got a diamond eternity ring(lovely)
For this one (due in a week) i am hoping for diamond stud earrings(fingers crossed)

northstar · 13/04/2005 22:54

I am so to admit this but I have already requested a ring from dp (for middle finger right hand) when baby is born. I have even been to the jewellers to measure my finger in advance in case my fingers swell nearer the time - is that really bad? I read on a previous thread that someone had told their dh it was the surest way to prevent pnd - a lovely pressie and it sure sounded good to me. It's not about the money but about him choosing it himself for me for us to celebrate the occasion.

Yes! He came to the hospital the next morning with a bag of goodies for ds and me. In mine was a bag of thorntons chocs - he had individually picked all the ones i like (bless!) and a little ring box with a sparkly diamond ring inside. Was a complete shock... a lovely lovely surprise.

What part of the country do you live in ??

ja9 · 13/04/2005 23:12

LGJ - why?

feelingold · 13/04/2005 23:33

When ds was born he gave me a white gold and diamond engagement ring and proposed (and I said no). He asked me 3 times more and I did eventually say yes though.

When ds was born, dh bought me a lovely bronze ornament of a lady and baby called "First Born" as a surprise. I also chose a gold bracelet which we had ds' name engraved on. Don't know what I'll get this time!

beatie · 14/04/2005 09:24
