Some people need to come on here and take the piss out of others? Alot of it going on at the moment, often on other threads where others can't defend themselves.
Some people may see it all as a bit of a laugh, but is it really?? What is the motivation in sitting at a computer and making others feel bad??
Why the superiority complexes, clearly they are not justified, otherwise there would be no need to rip it out of others??
Harmless fun? Just remember what it feels like to be treated that way, in real life or on mumsnet.
And whilst I'm at it, being a regular poster does not give anybody the right to say what they want, and why should I be told to take anybody with a pinch of salt, or should know that by now??

Its okay to be abusive mumsnetters just make sure at the beginning of your post you remind people to take you with a pinch of salt.

Can you say which threads? Sometimes I guess people really do 'know' each other and become familiar in a joky way - sometimes people have their buttons pushed and stuff gets projected into a thread from elsewhere - which isn't v constructive, sometimes people misunderstand signals due to the nature of communication possible on a board, and miss nuances or mistakenly suspect trolling etc. Somtimes I think it's as well to bear in mind that a messageboard is made up of all sorts of people who can use their anonymity in ways which can be confronting.
I think if something is happening you don't like, either say so outright, on the thread, or respond directly to the poster you think is being harshly handled with your own positive viewpoint.

Bit general, because i think the best way to respond is on the thread itself, if possible.

Just as pisstaking irritates you, astonished. Hiding behind an alter-ego to point the finger irritates me.

I saw somebody say to ignore Cod earlier - is that what you mean Astonished?

It might be an idea to actually say what/who you mean as this vaguery isn't really helpful - just stirs people into tizzies

FWIW, I get taken with a pinch of salt whatever I post it seems.

people who can use their anonymity in ways which can be confronting

And just like IRL you can walk away from a confrontation and not let it get to you.

But NDP, you have a nom de plume

hunkermunker · 05/04/2005 19:21

There's Cod now. Ignore her.

I do, but at least I post in my regular name when I make contraversial or whatever points.

hunkermunker · 05/04/2005 19:22

Sadly tis true. You were being your usual supportive self too. I was shocked and aghast.

(Is this the kind of thing Astonished means? I blame Cod. I never normally behave like this...honest, guv)

"her crapping thread" - pmsl!

hunkermunker · 05/04/2005 19:25

And yours was the train journey meet-up idea. You're a super fish and this hunker loves you. Now dry your scales, fluff up your fins and we'll see if Astonished wants to elaborate.

I think Astonished is just that astonished into silence.

Don't know what she would have done, if she had been on the thread where I was slagging WWK's boobs.
