What time does your 10, 8, 6 or 3 year old go to bed. I will abide by the consensus.

I think I've allowed things to go too far with my childrens' bedtimes and it's time for a rethink. So tell me about your bedtimes please.

I will present this thread as evidence to counter the claims about their school friends going to bed at midnight etc.

DS (3½) and DD (1½) are in bed by 6.30pm at the latest most nights. Obviously, on special occasions, they stay up.

I went for this early bedtime because I figured it would give me lots of time for negotiation as they get older.

bodiddly · 02/11/2008 20:46

DS (3) upstairs for bath 5.30-5.45pm ... bath, books ... lights out 6-6.30pm

zephyrcat · 02/11/2008 20:50

Ours go to bed at 7 on the dot, school nights, weekends, half terms, the lot!

They are (almost)7, 4, 2 and 1.

Actually, DD1 is now starting to go later on a couple of nights as she has Taekwon do.

After 7pm is my time.

eidsvold · 02/11/2008 20:50

My 3 and 6 yo go to bed between 7 and 7.30 depending in the day they have had.

ShyBaby · 02/11/2008 20:55

Dd (4.5) 8pm, ds (11) 9.30pm (but sometimes I let him stay up a bit longer).

May be having a rethink as dd is so tired lately...but she's having headaches too. That's not right I dont think. How old do they have to be to get their eyes tested?

littlerach · 02/11/2008 20:56

Both go up about 7pm (7 and 4).

Oldest reads til 8pm ish.

But I often have to wake her up in tthe mornings for school at 7am, so she obviously needs it.

These hols she hasn't been waking up til 7.30am.

However, they do stay up later if out, or at special occsions.

My 2 1/2 yo goes to bed when she falls asleep ATM. Normally between 8:00 and 10:00.

Spidermama · 02/11/2008 21:56

Right then thanks girls.

My new regime, based on the answers here, will be as follows:

3 y/o 7pm stories 'til 7.30.
6 y/o 7.30 stories 'til 8pm
(tough cos they're in the same room)
8 y/o up at 8 and does own stories.
10 y/o up at 8.30 and reads 'til whenever.

Their bed time varies with holidays, but school nights - 6 yr old and 3 yr old twins all have lights off about 7.30.

I have realised that generally my 3 yr olds sleep for nearly 12 hours and 6 yr old sleeps for exactly 11. So that's what they need and instead of being cross when ds1 bounds in at 630 I will put him to bed a little later and see what happens - particularly on Fridays

WhatFreshelleisthis · 02/11/2008 21:56

My 10 year old - 8pm unless she is particulary tired

My 4 year old - 7pm
My 3 year old - 6.30pm

MrsSanta · 02/11/2008 21:57

frankbestfriend · 02/11/2008 22:03

Weekends and school holidays anywhere between 9.30 and 10.30.

Sazisi · 02/11/2008 22:12

Mine all go to bed at 8 to 8.30 (aged 9, 3 & 1); we usually start from the youngest up

princesspeahead · 02/11/2008 22:31
