cryptic quiz help!

Our church is running a quiz as a fundraiser - have left it til last entry day to try and finish it and then deliver it! I've done quite well out of the 68 questions but wondered if anyone had any suggestions for the following:-

The answers to these are found in or on the body of humans:-

1. Last but not down
2. Was it uncertain?
3. Do not always hit back first
4. Told fibs about the Honourable Member
5. A very quiet finish to nine
6. Date tree

And one other, the answer to which is to be found in or on the body of other creatures:-

1. Reliant? Not I

hmmmm.....probably the closest we have got...still not 100% convinced though...where does the "down" come from?

but not is button isn't it. But belly button doesn't fit the clue. First thought was something rear but can't think of anything.

well I can't actually claim all the credit there justkeepswimming - you had the right idea with tup, I just looked through the OP's list for ones beginning with 't' that would fit that pattern

am now inspired to go off and do a cryptic crossword again. Used to love them but nowadays never seem to have time to even bother buying a paper.

though if i was doing a crossword and that nswer fit i would be peed off with the compiler cos it SHOULD be:

Bit late now, I think, but my thinking on cheek was 'turn the other' rather than hitting back. Not very good, I'm afraid, rather too literal.
