Our church is running a quiz as a fundraiser - have left it til last entry day to try and finish it and then deliver it! I've done quite well out of the 68 questions but wondered if anyone had any suggestions for the following:-

The answers to these are found in or on the body of humans:-

  1. Last but not down
  2. Was it uncertain?
  3. Do not always hit back first
  4. Told fibs about the Honourable Member
  5. A very quiet finish to nine
  6. Date tree

And one other, the answer to which is to be found in or on the body of other creatures:-

  1. Reliant? Not I

Thank you!

6 = palm

NorksDrift · 26/09/2008 11:58
  1. ?Antler
Hearts · 26/09/2008 12:04

Oh yes NorksDrift - that's got to be right - thank you!

Frisbyrat - that's what I thought it might be but I had put palm as answer for "about a hundred friends". But M is 1000 isn't it durrrr. So if I use C with Pals I can get Scalp - hurrah! Will but palm in for date tree - thank you!

4 - limped?

coppertop · 26/09/2008 12:17

4 could be dimple? Does that count as being in or on a human?

coppertop · 26/09/2008 12:20

5 - shin?

Jux · 26/09/2008 12:34

Could 3 be cheek?

forevercleaning · 26/09/2008 12:39

5 - appendix

PandaG · 26/09/2008 12:40

yes - dimple not limped, of course!

forevercleaning · 26/09/2008 12:43

2 is WAIST

forevercleaning · 26/09/2008 12:49

1 is TENDON

Hearts · 26/09/2008 12:57

This is all fab - thank you so much! Appendix - very clever... And I had the letters for dimple but couldn't make the word!

Forevercleaning - I have used tendon for "no dent - its wrecked". Could that one be something else do you think?

And Jux - I have used cheek for "Heck! Go round everywhere first" - what was your thinking on no. 3?

OP posts:
forevercleaning · 26/09/2008 13:00

well i got tendon from END (LAST) AND THE TON FROM ANANGRAM OF NOT.

forevercleaning · 26/09/2008 13:00

is ' no dent - its wrecked' from another clue then as that would make sense there too.

forevercleaning · 26/09/2008 13:02

does it say you can have the same answer twice?

Hearts · 26/09/2008 13:59

No, it doesn't say - I think the assumption is that they are all different body parts.

I did wonder about "hair" for no.1...

I made a list of bits of the body and these are ones that I haven't used, if that helps kickstart on the remaining answers...- blood, brain, artery, knuckle, wrinkle, bone, skull, womb, toe (but had toenail), hand, face, eyelid, nose, eye, ligament, lip, hair, cartilage, breast, chest, rib(cage), arm, sacrum, ulna, radius, bicep, tricep, intestine, abdomen, skeleton, fibula, tibia, shin, thigh, pelvis, nostril, mole, freckle, eyelash, neck, chin, bottom, hamstrings

hearts is it just a quiz or is it in crosword form? Do they tell you the number of letters in each answer?

Its driving me potty and i cant bear not knowing the answers! I am a fan of the cryptics!

Hearts · 26/09/2008 14:33

No its just a quiz so no other clues - and I'm going potty too! I hate not finishing things! I have to hand it in today so will have to draw a line under it soon.... I suppose 2 unanswered out of 68 aint bad.

If you are interested in doing the rest of the quiz I can let you have the other questions (which I assume I have got right ha ha - I am going to give in a SAE for my answersheet to be sent back!).

More body parts (!) - buttocks, uterus, forehead, thumb, vertebrae, nerves, pancreas, joint, ovary, thyroid, diaphragm, larynx, trachea, aorta, femur, thorax.

But i can't squeeze the last 2 answers out of any of them!

OP posts:
Hearts · 26/09/2008 14:51

ooooh I think no. 3 is HAND - taking first letters of first 4 words then writing them "back"wards.

1 more to go.....

OP posts:
WigWamBam · 26/09/2008 14:57

7 is antler - anagram of RELIANT without the I in it.

And date tree will be PALM.

forevercleaning · 26/09/2008 15:47

hearts - yes it is hand, i can see how you worked it out. well done! Yes I would love to see the rest of the quiz.

what are we left with unanswered now?

Hearts · 26/09/2008 16:11

Its the "last but not down" one. V. frustrating!

OP posts:
forevercleaning · 26/09/2008 16:28

if its not tendon, then i can only see it being something like 'bottom' but don't know why and not sure if your church would hve that kind of clue!!!

OhWellNeverMind · 26/09/2008 16:29

Vertebrae?

Vert coming from teh not down thing....

justkeepswimming · 26/09/2008 16:33
