My mums neighbour used to call her DH "BawJaws"!

prettybird · 01/09/2008 15:26

FG - yes, I know the word "loupin'" I'ts not one I tend to sue (although I like it) as with my posh accent, it would just sound strange.

Oblomov · 01/09/2008 15:29

Bexie, do you mean jobbie as in 'pooh' ?
he needs a jobbie = he needs to do a pooh ?

mankyscotslass · 01/09/2008 15:32

Other wise "you great big shite".

prettybird · 01/09/2008 15:32

Does anyone remember Billy Collony's sketch "The jobbie weecher" (soft "Scottish" ch as in "loch")?

mankyscotslass · 01/09/2008 15:33

I've lived in Scotland my whole life and never heard the term bawbags/ bawjaws, what does it mean ? Have we had gypitt, not sure about the spelling. It means to look stupid.

deste · 02/09/2008 21:46

This must be the best section yet. We used to play bools, (marbles) the hole you rolled the marble into was called the kypie. You fired your marble at someone elses marble and if you hit it in a certain way that was a phaynay. Hopscotch was called beddies.

mawbroon · 03/09/2008 08:09

I've never heard any of these words deste. Where are you from?

Bawbag = ballbag = scrotum

Interestingly enough, this is a direct translation of the phrase they use in holland for the exact same insult. (see my post a couple of days ago about this)

deste · 03/09/2008 19:13

Trust me to ask that. I'm from Aberdeen Mawbroon but its definately not used up here.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 03/09/2008 19:15

And wheek

As in use a cotton bud to wheek out your ear.

disclaimer * never put anything smaller than your elbow in your ear

kellykateneedsaholiday · 03/09/2008 21:54

mawbroon · 04/09/2008 10:54
