Ciao , Hello , Welcome .

lol lol lol at FIL having a hobby!! Will buy him a craft set for his birthday maybe... He is an awkward eccentric old man with a hot temper who also has moments of (rare) kind heartedness which I have to remind myself about when I want to slam door in face. Thanks for bilingual contributions, you are quite right and he is wrong and I need to learn not to get wound up by him being provocative!
[envy envy]at Ischia
Guess what girls, we have an apartment!!!!!
They have accepted our offer. Was 1500 and they have said ok at 1350 hurrah!! Am so happy!

francagoestohollywood · 10/09/2008 16:54

oh well done gio!!! congratulations on your new lovely apartment (so when's the next trip to zara home?). Get the residenza!!!!

francagoestohollywood · 10/09/2008 16:54

we now want details on the flat!

Rosa · 10/09/2008 17:53

HUrrah hurrah for Gio and the flat now want all details but as you are off to a wedding domani I bet you will leave us to suffer. Sputnik have a lovely time in Ischia hope the weather holds for you .
I looked at the bibs you could puntocroce and thought I will probably get in a strop when it goes wrong and it won't be as good as SIL so I ordered the name tags from Letterbox and they take me 2 mins to sew on.
I have just bought a fridge freezer for almost Eu1000. Its A++ No frost . and BIG . It was a case of well we are staying in this flat lets make it more habitable. SO DH off to Ikea Fri and will buy lots of those contianers that go under beds on wheels. Trofast and any other practical storage solution I can find before friday !!

francagoestohollywood · 10/09/2008 18:12

Well done rosa with the fridge and at trofast, I'd love it for the dc's bedroom, but sadly we have no space.

I'm waiting for the minestrone to cool up a bit...............

Sputnik · 10/09/2008 20:56

Great news Gio. Hope your new flat is totally free of granny wardrobes

Sputnik · 10/09/2008 21:26

We are just off for the weekend, so back on monday. Hope I can manage to relax and won't be constantly chasing after the baby as he attempts to dive head first in the swimming pool, or plunge into the sea. My ILs will be there but are fairly useless, although should help keep DD amused.

DD was doing music lessons for a bit last year, but we had to stop as she insisted I stayed in the room, and I started to find it difficult with the baby wriggling about. Anyway, she's now saying she'll let me wait outside for her (having seen Peppa Pig doing her ballet lesson!), so with any luck we can start up again, as she really enjoyed it.

francagoestohollywood · 11/09/2008 07:25

Have a fantastic weekend in Ischia sputnik!

Hot here already at 8.25 in the morning. I want those mild september days of my youth!!!

Brangelina · 11/09/2008 13:20

at Ischia from me too. Have a good time.

Brilliant news Gio! I take it your FIL wasn't involved in knocking the price down? So, are you wheeling home a creaking trolleyful of Zara home gear as I write? I must pop in there soon, haven't been in a while. Franca, there's one at Sesto San Giovanno, Centro Vulcano. You can get there on the metro and bus. There is also a rather pointless cycle path that goes past it but that's by the bye....

Rosa, is your new fridge a double door American one? I saw a really cool one the other day but ours is still quite new so won't be packing up any time soon

Rosa · 11/09/2008 13:36

No its an average width one but my sister has a double American one and honestly am not impressed the shelves curve in and you miss out on vital storage space. It is tall however freezer is capacity 102lit and the fridge 270 ( impressed that I can remember !!). Thats coming next week as I need to get dd room sorted before I can cope with emptying frridges scrubbing the old one out - Giving it to the parocchia ( saintly smug smile). DD room up now- am filling the cupboards etc but thing is dd is asleep in our room where everything was stored so am a bit of a standstill. She wanted to sleep on her new bed already bless !!
Shoe shopping how lovely I am living in birkenstocks ( ok they are the pretty ones ) as feet swell too much - tried sandals the other day made it to the door and gave up !!!

francagoestohollywood · 11/09/2008 13:40

Thanks Brangelina, will have a look. This week I can't do much as I had the inserimento with dd (but tomorrow she is staying full time) and ds finishes at 12.30. It's been hard, as they bicker. A LOT.

So at the moment, they are in the bathtub, and they manage to fight over a sponge. Where did I go wrong? Up until the summer hols they were getting on so well...

francagoestohollywood · 11/09/2008 13:41

I love birkenstok, I'd like a purple pair, but find that they are scomode for my tipo di piede

Brangelina · 11/09/2008 13:55

Ah Rosa, you have just secured yourself a place in heaven. Am very impressed by your knowledge of technical aspects of your fridge, all I knew about mine was that it looked good in my then kitchen to be and the freezer was capacious enough for all of DD's meals I'd slavishly prepared in my old place (we had no kitchen at the time). Oh, and that it was A+. I am similarly impressed by your zeal in sorting things out, I'd have had to lie down with the exhaustion of it all. Mind you, I never did get struck by the nesting instinct in my final weeks, I think it's missing from my genoma.

Franca, it's just their age, I'm sure. My sister's 2 have always bickered, pretty much from the day the youngest could touch the eldest's toys, so maybe you were just lucky up to now. How come your DS finishes at 12.30? Does he have inserimento too?[dim emoticon].

francagoestohollywood · 11/09/2008 14:05

I think I got lucky and this is my comeuppance. I think ds is in desperate need to be with male friends his age. Hopefully he'll soon settle in his school and make new ones.

This first week they leave at 12.30. Maybe to ease them into school life, forgetting that 98% of Milanese children has been institutionalised from a very young age !

Brangelina · 11/09/2008 14:23

And that 98% of Milanes mums have better things to do!

Oh well, next week you'll be footloose and fancy free all day and will be able to browse in Zara Home to your heart's content . We'll have to meet up, but not when I'm getting my hair done

francagoestohollywood · 11/09/2008 14:45

Nah, that means I should find time to look for jobs ... I need to go to hairdresser as well, I have 2 cm of ricrescita.

I'm taking ds to lezione di musica today.

Brangelina · 11/09/2008 15:00

How's the music going? Does he enjoy it?

francagoestohollywood · 11/09/2008 15:07

Today it's his first day. I hope he likes it....

Brangelina · 11/09/2008 15:08

Have you paid for the whole course already? If so, I hope he does like it.

francagoestohollywood · 11/09/2008 15:14

No, not yet.
Is it hot in monza like here? Hopefully it's changing tomorrow. It is sooooooo hot

Rosa · 11/09/2008 18:32

Ah so there is one positive thing about haveing big wide feet that you can wear Birkenstocks !!!
I don't think its the nesting I have its the wanting to get things done whilst I physically can. I am getting bigger by the week and I just want dd settled - The house in some kind of order. Freezer stocked so I don't have to worry if I can't get out. My blast*d cleaner promised she would come once before she went home for 5 weeks even if just to iron ( she is a bit erratic I usually see her once a fortnight ) just called to say she can't come so I also have this MASSIVE pile or ironing like 6 machine worths - left on purpose.Oh well another task for my happy back!!
I hope that you dc's Franca manage to sort things out Ibickering is so annoying as its constant !!
Oh and as for regrowth guys I have about 4cm and am on the tie back and try to hide it !!

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 11/09/2008 19:34

Rosa, I do have wide big feet, but, dunno why I find the Birks uncomfy (tried friend's pair this summer). I long for a purple pair.......

DelGirl · 11/09/2008 20:39

hello again

Just wondered if any of you can recommend somewhere to stay close to Pisa airport/City? Planning on coming over in about 3 weeks time maybe and want to spend a few days there before we fly home. Also, anything in particular we should see. DD is 3 btw. I don't think I will have a car then so am hoping public transport will be ok.

grazie

francagoestohollywood · 11/09/2008 21:04

Hi delgirl,

you need Califrau, she's the Tuscany expert. Last time I was (briefly) in Pisa was 20 yrs ago ... I can only remembre of the Torre and the Battistero.

Trains should be pretty reliable in Tuscany. here's the website of Treni italia

Rosa · 12/09/2008 11:31

Franca Brang pls tell me it is raining in your areas ( well more west than me ...so it is on my way soon ) The humidity is soooo high. Not helped by MIL falling on the street - In the blazing sun. Hopefully nothing serious possibly a strappo but she has had problems with nerves and circulation . GP gave her a brief once over but I had hopes she was going to send her for more tests. Well now she will get them.3 very hunky ambulance men carried her to the boat ! As a result DH trip to Ikea cut very short he is on way back he said he got a couple of things ....
DD has just had a shower she was all sweaty and horrible - I am not much better !
Delgirl I would not stay 3 days in Pisa after you have seen the Piazza dei Miracoli thats really it. ( i think) Far better staying in say Viareggio on the beach and then taking the train to Pisa if you want to see the tower.
YOu can still get nice sunny days in October but don't quote me if its horrible !!!!
