I haven't had a drop of wine this week because the doc's put me on a course of heavy duty pills (eight a day) for a week and I thought adding wine to the mix wouldn't be wise.

Berrie · 10/07/2008 10:47

Poor you Lyra, being ill and on your own. I trust that you are feeling better if you are back at work?

Rained and rained yesterday here too. It was half heartidly sunny this morning but raining now...

Berrie · 10/07/2008 10:49

Oggs, parcel in the post!
the sewing I did at the back is most odd...you will probably want to unpick it, I hope you can make a better job of it than me!

LyraSilvertongue · 10/07/2008 10:59

Not ill anymore, and DP's back (hurrah).

Berrie · 10/07/2008 14:12

Right, there is just one room in the house that dd has not pooed on the floor of.
I don't remember this trouble with ds. He was just ready suddenly and that was that.

It's worse than having a dog...[hmmm]

Berrie · 10/07/2008 14:14

Oggs, it's all yout fault, I've just pulled several items out of the charity bag while looking for that tunic and have changed my mind and put them back in my pile of clothes on the floor.

oggsfrog · 10/07/2008 16:48

Sorry Berrie
I don't remember dd ever pooing on the floor, though I'm sure she must have.... actually, as we don't have an indoor toilet I do seem to remember a few little presents just outside around the front door .

Lyra, hope you feel better soon. What was wrong? Run down? Dp will be able to take some of the pressure off now. Hope he had a good trip.

Was weigh day.... down another 1lb. Not exactly great, but at least I'm still going in the right direction .

LyraSilvertongue · 10/07/2008 19:03

Well done Oggs.
Not ill at all now - just taking the pills for the feverish thing I had earlier in the week.
Berrie, my DC never pooed on the floor either - except once when DS1 had the runs and it dribbled everywhere . They did plenty of wees on the floor though.

Berrie · 10/07/2008 19:13

What is wrong with the child!!!
I think I'll give up and keep her in nappies until she is 18!

Berrie · 11/07/2008 07:54

Good morning dear friends.

Weather looks faintly okish...

We had some rainbow chard from our allotment last night. It was very very nice so I'm happy about that. The strawberries are a bit disapointing, mostly slug eaten. I've no idea what I'm supposed to do about the potatoes, I put a couple in a pot at home which we unearthed yesterday but no potatoes.
There are enough raspberries to go on our cereal but that's it. The hens are laying well and we have a basket full. I might do some baking today.

How are you all? Did you have a happy reunion Lyra?

Berrie · 11/07/2008 08:59

dark clouds...

LyraSilvertongue · 11/07/2008 09:59

Yes, was nice to have DP back. We picked up the children from the childminder and took them for a welcome home dinner last night. I had some wine, which was probably a very bad idea with all my pills so I'm abstaining till Monday.

oggsfrog · 11/07/2008 11:23

Morning

Lyra, I'll join you in abstaining. I drank rather too much vodka last night .

Berrie. Had your potatoes flowered? You need to wait until the flowers die back. I've never known a potato to fail so perhaps you were too eager .
Our raspberries are nowhere near ready yet. All we've had up to now are some taters and a few very small carrots and turnips.
Everything is ready so much later up here and the growing season is much shorter. At least all the rain is good for the garden .

Berrie · 11/07/2008 11:24

Sounds lovely Lyra.
I have a new plan...a gradual withdrawal of alcohol. Limit daily consumption on a decreasing week by week basis and we can only have it once we have tidied up / done an allocated job. One weekend night to binge... I'll discuss it with dh and see what we come up with.

Berrie · 11/07/2008 11:45

Not sure Oggs...they might have when we were away...

oggsfrog · 11/07/2008 17:16

Berrie, the tunic arrived this afternoon Thankyou! I didn't realise it was silk. It's a lovely colour.
See what you mean about the neck gaping - it's very wide isn't it? Thankyou so much.

Berrie · 11/07/2008 18:11

Yu could always make a lovely cushion out of it!

Berrie · 12/07/2008 19:07

No bods around today?

oggsfrog · 12/07/2008 20:02

I've been out all day.
Took dd to see 'Horton Hears a Who' this morning. We really enjoyed it. Then we hit the charity shops, and dd ended up with loads of books and videos, and a huge sit on soft horse that is bigger than our dog
I bagged myself a book of knitting stitches.

I've just had fillet steak and mushrooms and I've got a bottle of vodka in the freezer with some cans of diet coke, and me and dh are going to watch 'The Rock' (film with Nicholas Cage and Sean Connery. The library doesn't have a very good selection of dvd's).

All in all a happy day

Berrie · 13/07/2008 08:35

That sounds nice.
We had a stir fry and watched Iron Man. I gave up half way through. What is it with guns and shooting people all the time, very dull.

This morning we will have a family breakfast. Dc have already had their ridiculously early breakfast. We'll do some jobs this morning and dh will go flying this afternoon. Sunday dinner at tea time, Grandma and my sister are coming. That's my day.

oggsfrog · 13/07/2008 09:40

Mmmmmm, I love stir fry. Can't have any on this diet

Dh has taken dd riding and I'm supposed to be tidying/doing washing/hoovering/lighting fires etc etc.

I've got a big piece of brisket and am just going to fry some onions then slow roast it so it's done ready for tonight.

No real plans for today other than a lazy day reading papers, pottering and clearing out dd's bedroom (it was a condition of her getting the horse).

oggsfrog · 14/07/2008 09:11

Good morning
Very quiet around here lately...

Dd and I have got an appointment with a bottle of Hedrin, a nit comb and a Hong Kong Phooey video this morning

Then I've got to decide whether I want a new Hen House as my birthday pressie, and if so find one.
Dh has ordered himself a scythe and that will be his present for in a couple of weeks.

Berrie · 14/07/2008 10:52

When is your birthday Oggs?

I'd like a scythe...we gave one away years ago.

Peckatron 500 has a black comb so I need to phone the vet. I've just isolated her...

Dd did a poo ...in the potty! i was just about to give up!

oggsfrog · 14/07/2008 13:55

Hurrah! for dd and her potty poo

Poor Peckatron, does she seem unwell otherwise? Some of mine sometimes get black spots on their combs. I think it can be caused by frostbite (unlikely at this time of year) or being pecked by the others (again if the whole comb is black then this would seem unlikely).

Birthday is tomorrow.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 14/07/2008 14:56

$$$£!$££%$$%$%%$ - this is Zeb swearing her effing head off. Afternoon all!
Well, after a fantastically brilliant amazing excellent time in London I come back to the farm.
I was not in the best of moods, it has to be said, as I wasn't particularly keen on the idea of an au pair in the first place, and she was 'doing one' about the state of the house, DH being there on his own since I've left, and me not being around at all until Saturday. So DH was in usual sh*tty alpha male mode, and I guess I was suffering from alcohol poisoning . So as you can imagine, Saturday/Sunday were just great. Although the au pair is fine and she thinks I'm great, so that's all all right after all. Thank God.

But for more details on me swearing my head off, see the other thread I'm about to start!
