Where would you love to live and why?

I often dream of a small holding somewhere along the coast between LA and San Fransisco, just a few hundred acres or so. Great light, culture, space, skiing within driving distance, a few nags, dryer climate..

Second choice would be New Zealand, never been but looks perfect for family life.

...with todays weather, anywhere would do..!

NZ or OZ

nailpolish · 07/01/2005 07:37

oh davros, lucky you! sounds like a great place to be. (i get very starstruck)

Fimbo! Newburgh is a nice place, quite posh now, houses a small fortune. i live down a wee bit - central, sort of near Falkland. very boring

lowcalCOD · 07/01/2005 07:57

woudl love to live ont he dorset coast I think in a huge 1920s house with sea views.

Moomina · 07/01/2005 07:59

Would love a big art deco house like the ones in Poole. Or like the one that mad woman ruined on Property Ladder

fisil · 07/01/2005 08:07

First: Oxford. No question there (off the Banbury Road in Sumertown)

Second: Wellington (but only if they picked New Zealand up and dropped it somewhere in Europe, otherwise I'd feel too far away)

lowcalCOD · 07/01/2005 09:22

moomins I am wit h you
in factw hen I did a google to frty and illustrate my dream thats what I got!

Davros · 07/01/2005 10:24

LOL at NZ being dropped in Europe. I like the look of NZ but tooooo remote! Isle of Wight is also lovely but toooo remote, ha ha!! Gdansk sounds interesting, tell us more! Ideally would love to stay where we are and have second and even third home!

littlemissbossy · 07/01/2005 10:29

This is probably going to sound really sad, but I like living here! although it's much better when the sun is shining

GreatBigFatHeiferEnid · 07/01/2005 10:35

ditto cod

Go to Burton Bradstock and you'll see Billy Braggs house on the cliff - thats what you want - massive 1920s house right on the clifftop. Bloody gorgeous.

GreatBigFatHeiferEnid · 07/01/2005 10:37

I love living in Dorset countryside (think River Cottage) but my fantasy house is beautiful apartment in Paris with high ceilings and amazing views of the city ...sigh...

Moomina · 07/01/2005 10:40

Saw a magazine article on his house once and have never got over it. The very idea of Billy Bragg living in a great big mansion, decorated beautifully by his fragrant interior-designer wife. Surely old Big Nose should still be in a squat sleeping on copies of the Socialist Worker?

karenanne · 07/01/2005 10:55

i'm a girl of extremes lol my ideal place to live is either somewhere in canada out in the wilds (but near a town) near the mountains and where it would snow really heavily.a large well heated log cabin would be ideal.ive always wanted to spend xmas in a log cabin in the snow...maybe next year i'll get my dream.lol
or somewhere in greece/italy where its hot a villa overlooking a secluded beach and enough land to grow my own fruit and veg and where i could go to the local town market to buy local produce.and near enough to the sea my children could go to the beach everyday.

moondog · 07/01/2005 11:03

Yes I saw that Moomina-struck me as utterly incongruous!!

GreatBigFatHeiferEnid · 07/01/2005 11:08

the locals all laugh as Billy Bragg was on a show last year and said that his house was big and worth about £375,000 which he couldn't believe blah blah blah.

Its worth about 1.5 million!

moondog · 07/01/2005 11:12

What an arse eh? Just like all the rest. Revolution and all that...yawn. As bad as Lennon banging on about no possessions when his wife had an apartment just for cold storage of furs.
Now did anyone read Observer artivle about Peter Tatchell, who lives on £7000 a year in a council flat in Elephant&Csstle? Truly a principled man.

lowcalCOD · 07/01/2005 13:42

is he really ad Dorset boy?
they all sell out itn the end

NewbarnsleygirlWalliams · 07/01/2005 13:44
