Where would you love to live and why?

I often dream of a small holding somewhere along the coast between LA and San Fransisco, just a few hundred acres or so. Great light, culture, space, skiing within driving distance, a few nags, dryer climate..

Second choice would be New Zealand, never been but looks perfect for family life.

...with todays weather, anywhere would do..!

PuffTheMagicDragon · 06/01/2005 22:06

Yeh but decided to abscond. "Oi fatties" ain't doing it for me. Sticking with me mates on Long Term Slimmer thread. No Marjories there .

Discoinferno · 06/01/2005 22:07

Jampots that was a nice post. If anyone ever wants to move to Ireland will be happy to advise. I love it here.

nailpolish · 06/01/2005 22:08

i would live in london too, disco, if i won the lottery

joash · 06/01/2005 22:09

UK - Cornwall, no surprise there then .

Abroad - Canada!!

Davros · 06/01/2005 22:14

I think where I live in London (Belsize Park near Hampstead/Camden) is perfect BUT wouldn't say no to a second home in either or all of....
Rome
San Felice Circeo, South of Rome, half way to Naples
South Wales
Suffolk
Ireland (Kilkenny-ish)
New York
Don't want much really eh?

Moomina · 06/01/2005 22:15

Mmm, I used to live on just off Haverstock Hill, Davros, and would move back there tomorrow if I had the money...

nailpolish · 06/01/2005 22:16

davros that sounds posh - any famous neighbours? i would be a fulltime curtain twitcher

Davros · 06/01/2005 22:29

Moomina, I live just off Haverstock Hill!! The turning opposite the tube with the Nat West on the corner......
LOADS of famous or just lovey neighbours. Gail Porter lives over the road, or at least used to until split with husband, haven't seen her recently. Otherwise its chocca with mostly minor celebs and a few big 'uns. Just heard today that Brad and Jen have bought Jamie and Jules Oliver's house in Holly Bush in Hampstead!!!! Will be looking out for them. Otherwise its usually Sue Cook, Nicholas Parsons, Tom Conti, Peter Davidson, Derek Jacobi, Alan Bennett (who is over 6ft!) etc etc, you get the picture! Never see George Michael but then he doesn't go out any more does he Elton?

Moomina · 06/01/2005 22:36

Oh, I know exactly where you mean - that's such a lovely area, Davros! I lived further down towards Chalk Farm, nearer England's Lane. Is Daunt Books still there? I loved that shop.

Feeling very nostalgic for more carefree days...

Discoinferno · 06/01/2005 22:45

Mmm Tom Conti I love his accent.

Fimbo · 06/01/2005 22:49

Nailpolish where in Fife are you? I used to live in Newburgh.

Davros · 06/01/2005 22:50

Daunt Books is still there and a lovely branch now in South End Green too. Sorry to hijack, back to dreaming about Rome or New York......

juniperdewdrop · 06/01/2005 22:56

Scotland, preferably by the sea. Haven't got a place in mind though.

SeaShells · 06/01/2005 23:14

Anywhere sunny, up high, with a view of the sea! Ahhh sounds just like where I live now!

Diddlina · 06/01/2005 23:56

Gdansk and I want my ashes sprinkled in the Baltic off Sopot pier.

KateandtheGirls · 06/01/2005 23:58

Fimbo, my first boyfriend lived in Newburgh, and it's not a very big place...

mishmash · 07/01/2005 00:16

oh - just anywhere warm with a relaxed attitude to life. In the countryside or beside a beach where I could hear the waves and the sea. Love the north of Majorca.

I can dreammmmmmm

Linnet · 07/01/2005 00:28

Where I live here in the UK is nice, I don't always think of it as nice all of the time but when I try to see it through other peoples eyes it is a nice place to stay.

Dh and I did consider moving to London before dd1 was born, his dad lives there and we go to visit him every year. We love London but I'm not sure if I'd be brave enough to go now with 2 kids in tow. Plus it's pretty unlikely we'd be able to afford to live in a really nice area.

And for abroad We'd love to live in Canada, but since we don't qualify for immgration to Canada that remains a dream.

FatFluckerFio · 07/01/2005 07:07

agree with cod about the scily isles just wasnt brave enough to say!

emmaGotToTryHarder · 07/01/2005 07:16

Would love to live On the Isle of Wight. Not exactly exciting but I love it over there. Probably will one day.

Nzor Oz other than that. But that just a fantasy.
