OK, my childrern came home from school yesterday with a Christmas quiz. Of 100 questions, I only know the answer to about 40 so I would like some help please (and I hope there are no other parents from the school on Mumsnet!)

I can't post all 60 remaining questions here now, but wonder how well you will get on with these to start with:

  1. Where was Paddy Ashdown born?

  2. How does a marimba differ from a xylophone?

  3. Who composed the opera The Ice Break?

  4. What is Doris Day's full name?

  5. What is a cassata a type of?

Cheers Mumsnetters!

I agree with you, it was a mistake!

Thanks SD, I think so too. I will have to try and find the question setter before term ends. Thanks for all your help over the day.

Just checked a list of abdications in the 19th century and there isn't one British Monarch on it

spacedonkey · 14/12/2004 16:47

btw thanks for posting the questions, I enjoyed finding out the answers!

Spacedonkey are you still about? Where did you find that info about the 1983 cup final? I can't find anything about who scored the first goal. Just curious.

I googled "1983 fa cup final" and came up with a match report on the manchester united website (i think!)

ItllBeLonelymumThisChristmas · 14/12/2004 18:16

Hmmm. I was looking at the Brighton websites and couldn't find any mention of it. Strange really when you think they haven't achieved anything very much since 1983, whereas Man U have gone on and on.....
