Playtex Moonwalk 2005 anyone?

So ladies, who fancies doing the Playtex Moonwalk to raise cash for breast cancer research? I did it a couple of years ago (couldn't this year as had just given birth to the twins) and it was FANTASTIC! 15,000 women and about 1,000 men walking in bras through the night to raise cash. Victoria Wood did a programme on it recently. You walk 26.2 miles (full moon) or 13.1 miles (half moon). Great fun. Fancy it? Anyone?

Those of you that registered should have your application forms now. For those that are still thinking about it the forms are available at gyms across the country.

When you fill in your form tick the fastest time box otherwise you'll be waiting ages to cross the start line.

Time to get training ladies!

Arabica - have you applied. The reason I ask is that I have and I'm not too far with you and noticed you were looking for a training partner.
Not too sure when we find out if our applications have been successful. Already do plenty of walking but need to step it up a bit. Will start in earnest after the new year.
Get in touch if you want to meet up and "push buggies"? (Not sure what age your chil/ren is/are)

MarsselectionboxLady · 09/12/2004 11:05

So ladies, how many of you have applied? Grin

heymissytoe · 09/12/2004 11:12

Any absolute beginner walker wanabee walkers in the SE London area. I am quite interested in this it's such a good cause but some like minded and like ability wanabees like me might be just the extra puch I need.

heymissytoe · 09/12/2004 11:13

Blush push I mean push - I am now standing in the corner having not checked spelling before posting

spacedonkey · 09/12/2004 11:13

I would really like to do this, am looking at the site for more info now. I'm not very fit, but last week I walked 8 miles without too much bother, so I reckon I could do the half moon

heymissytoe · 09/12/2004 11:15

Spacedonkey - are you in London? If so which part?

MarsselectionboxLady · 09/12/2004 11:15

heymissytoe. Well done to you. Go to the link below and download the training programme. It's really good. I hope lots of people join you. Collect your application form and get it sent off as quickly as possible. The spaces really do fill up quickly. Grin I've also added tips for filling the form in. Mx

spacedonkey · 09/12/2004 11:16

I'm in islington

MarsselectionboxLady · 09/12/2004 11:17

Spacedonkey, you could probably do the full moon if you walked 8 miles the other day. Just start a training programme and you're away. We never thought that we would manage the 26.2miles but it's amazing how quickly you get fit and manage. Great fun walking with others. I think we probably enjoyed the training the most and have continued to walk together. Smile

spacedonkey · 09/12/2004 11:17

It would be a great way to get fit, and I love walking in London anyway!

heymissytoe · 09/12/2004 11:20

Thanks Marslady I'll have a look now

Spacemonkey - I am in London SE5 and I am a big whoosey -Islington is too far for me. I am still standing in the corner this time for being a whoosey pudding Smile

spacedonkey · 09/12/2004 11:21

heymissytoe, you could walk here!

heymissytoe · 09/12/2004 11:32

Gulp!! (where is the very worried weakling emotion) I'm going to check out the training schedule and see if I can really hack it - I have dreams where I am a tri-athlete swimming cycling and running miles and miles in those oh so flattering hipster / sport knicker and vest top combination thingeys and at the end my partner worships me because in reality he knows how unfit/ lazy I really am and his head would actually fall off Grin I don't smoke (anymore) and don't drink (not regularly and not before during and now ten months after my pregnancy ) so I have no excuse for such poor fitness. Was good at athletics at school so I'll check out the training schedule Smile

spacedonkey · 09/12/2004 11:34
Grin

I'm an utter slug who was rubbish at sports at school, so if I can do it anyone can

heymissytoe · 09/12/2004 12:04

Grin there is hope....

MarsselectionboxLady · 11/12/2004 10:45

bump

galaxy · 11/12/2004 11:57

I did this in 2001 - I was totally unfit, didn't prepare and managed to complete it so if I can anyone can. (Not that I would consider doing it again)
