If you were a single parent with three kids but no family to go and visit or to invite over.
Any ideas on a great place in the UK or overseas to take a three, four and five year old??

jmg - where were you looking in the Midlands?

wobblyknicks · 31/10/2004 21:53

Excellent!! Warn me if you're going to do that tho, I'll come and rescue your nice car and bring a banger like his in its place!!

jmg1 · 31/10/2004 21:55

Well in tha past I have lived in B'ham, Droitwich, Wychbold and Worcester. Was in Worcester Friday. As always I have all these ides of where to go and live but then look at how settled the kids are and feel guilty. But I think I have to move on.

You've got to be somewhere where you're happy too - and if that happens to be Devon I promise not to take the piss (too much!)

jmg1 · 31/10/2004 21:57

Wk, when DS was three, we were in the car and he said can I drive this car when I am older, I said yes, he said and maybe you can drive it sometimes!

Awww - what a sweetie!! Well, if he does stay a charmer, he'll need a decent car - he's just planning ahead!!!

jampot · 31/10/2004 21:59

without sounding too cheeky - you get around a bit don't you? Solihull is very good, nice shopping, all good schools, not far from Brum for serious shopping, NEC for concerts/exhibitions, excellent rail and road network, airport etc. If you are thinking of moving there, please let me find you a house, my dh is a PITA and wont look at houses and being a girl, I just have to do it

wobblyknicks · 31/10/2004 21:59

He might be generous and buy you a Lada when you're older - or something equally worth smashing up!!!

WestCountryLass · 31/10/2004 22:53

Devon is lovely, go for it!

BTW, we usually spend our Xmasses in Spain as my Mum lives near Malaga and every year we've been its been shorts and t-shirt weather

CountessDracula · 31/10/2004 23:21

Oh don't worry jmg, I have my ticket....

My ears were burning.....

We just got back from Wooley Grange, Wilt. They, like all the Lux Family group are doing a semi organised thing at xmas, which looks great. Our kids had a fab time as we did! £££ but if you dont want to worry...
Smugglers Notch in the states are claiming to be able to teach 2.5 year olds to ski.. may be a little chilly tho!

LunarSea · 01/11/2004 09:45

Hey Anteater, not so much of the "claiming" - it's definately possible to get them skiing at 2 and a half (or younger). This was ds last year at 2 and a 6 months (at the top of a mountain, not on the nursery slopes!).

woodpops · 01/11/2004 09:55

We did center parcs one xmas and it was great. Trouble is it get's booked up about a year in advance. We also went to a hotel in Newquey one year that was really good as well. I think any hotelk at Xmas tends to base alot of activities around kids at the end of the day Xmas is about kids isn't it???

Anteater · 01/11/2004 11:38

How much chocolate did you get thro..! Looks great. We took our 5 and 7 yo last year but still a little wary of taking our 2.5yo monster with us this year. Recomended big white last year but didnt go, what did you think?

LunarSea · 01/11/2004 12:00

Anteater - I love Big White (we have season tickets there). Very child orientated - kids centre right in the middle of the village, kids activities in the evenings, etc and a nice safe mountain with not too many people on it, especially during the week. And they do a great value package if you've got little ones who you want to start skiing - $99 (Canadian - that's about £45) per day for all day childcare AND a one hour private lesson. It goes down again for multiple days (I think last year it was 1 day free if you booked 5).

If you go for 2 weeks it's also worth spending some time up at Silver Star which is the next resort along the Okanagan valley, and is owned by the same people, so the same ticket covers both.

CAT me if you want any more info.

I thought I could feel my ears burning.

I have to let WK take over my stalking duties now and then just to keep her happy. I'm not sure she could handle the meths just yet though.

jmg1 · 02/11/2004 07:29

Hi CT, how are you?
Thought you might have bought WK under a bit of control during my absinth, wishful thinking eh?
