Had to start a thread on this. Did anyone else spend half their time cringing and covering their eyes? And the other half laughing raucously?
Such a superb programme - can't wait until next week for the next installment.

Emsiewill, but you have to admit it was pretty powerful stuff.

My money's on the milk monitor plotting (but never actually following through) bloody revenge on Neil using a 3B pencil.

emsiewill · 07/10/2002 23:05

Very profound - only wish they'd made time for us to hear more!

god I love this programme. Am using a chisel to prise my toes away from soles of my feet as I write.

WideWebWitch · 14/10/2002 23:09

Oh I know, tonight was particularly toe curling wasn't it? Couldn't stop cringing and laughing.

emsiewill · 14/10/2002 23:22

I was sitting in the house alone watching tonight and shouting with laughter. I thought this episode was the best one so far - so many classic moments. I feel really sorry for Dawn, although I suppose she had her chance with Tim and then blew it.

Did anyone see Ricky Gervais on Room 101? Although I admit that The Office is a work of comic genius and is probably one if not the best thing on tv at the moment, he seemed to me to be quite a strange character, not too far away from David Brent himself. One of his hates were children in restaurants! He hated the way that people feed their babies in public forcing other peple to watch the dribble being scraped back into the babies mouths. Infact I think he actually had a thing about drool in general! Seems to be quite an anal person obsessed with cleanliness and timing (also hates people being late).

Having said all that, I'm sure that his own nuerosies (sp?) is what makes him such a good writer and The Office the most well observed and difficult to watch prgramme ever -- I love it!

tiktok · 15/10/2002 11:33

Oooh, I love this programme - everything about it !!

I adored the prank they played on Gareth - getting him to flatter David ('Could you wear tighter trousers?'.

Isn't Finchy absolutely vile??

VJR - yep, I saw him on rm 101, and still loved him! Maybe my rose tinted specs didn't let me view him as anal, as all I saw was a bloody funny bloke! Just thought he was being funny re: kids in restaurants - and as I can't tolerate lateness, I was with him on that one.
Anyone see him on Parky? Thought he was a bit hyper and nervous at first, but soon calmed down to become hilarious all over again. He was explaining how a misunderstanding has arisen about him being father to twins - said he was being interviewed by a boring local reporter, asking typically boring questions, last year - he was aked what three items he'd save in the event of a house fire - he said two daft things I can't remember - something like the dog, the cat - then he paused as if in deep thought and said if it was only three things, the third would have to be one of the twins.......... only thing was the reporter thought he was serious! when their paths crossed a yr later she asked him how the twins were!

mines · 15/10/2002 18:40

Oooh Batters I know what you mean - I thought that little interview with him talking about his love life was very sweet ('I'm a hell of a catch' etc).

Then my DH pointed out that Tim is going to morph into David Brent in about 7 years time. Made me feel quite queasy, I can tell you....

bundle · 15/10/2002 18:40

I REALLY wanted to like this programme..but only managed the odd smile, while dh sniggered lots. feel like a leper.

Tinker · 15/10/2002 19:27

'My knees are hurting'
'Nearly done'

Been laughing all day about that.

ellasmum · 15/10/2002 19:39

Recorded it (on far too late for a saddo like me!!) so can't wait to watch it when DP gets home. I think I have been very restrained not watching it already today.

tracyhay · 15/10/2002 23:17

has anyone noticed ricky's small hands?
or is it me?

agaazaa · 16/10/2002 23:19

tiktok

just watched this weeks recordibg, still giggling about the tight trousers, and I like your tiny beard.

hillarious.

Fionn · 29/10/2002 21:15

Thought last night's was the funniest yet.

Lynne33 · 29/10/2002 21:18

is it just me though, or is this series, hilarious though it is, just a little bit 'too' cringy? I end up hiding my face behind a pillow for most of it.

WideWebWitch · 29/10/2002 21:45

I missed it last night oh no!!! Will have to wait for the video...

Tinker · 29/10/2002 23:26

I find that it's not until the nxt day that I start laughing about it. It's just too awkward at the time, feel so embarrassed for David Brent. The scenes between Tim and Dawn are really painful, Rachel is horrible but loved Gareth's mates.

And FINCHY!!!!!

Fionn · 30/10/2002 07:59

www - don't suppose you've got BBC Choice where it's repeated later in the week? Do you want me to video it for you?!

WideWebWitch · 30/10/2002 08:50

Fionn, I have, fantastic, thanks!! Didn't know it was repeated, will catch it there.

ellasmum · 30/10/2002 10:53

It's repeated on Thursday at 9.00 or 9.30pm on BBC Choice.
