I went wedding dress trying on yesterday - it was fab!

The lovely spook came with me and had her own favourite out of this lot but I wont say which.

What do you all think?

Dulce or celeste

smellymelly · 07/10/2004 11:54

Wow - what a good choice, I think I prefer Dion or Olympia. All are gorgeous though...

Beccarollover · 07/10/2004 12:00

Do you think I could get all 4 and change throughout the day!?

SoupDragon · 07/10/2004 12:06

You could have one made with your favourite elements from each... could either look fab or like a real mishmash!

Beccarollover · 07/10/2004 12:08

Out of the favourite my favourites are Olympia and Celeste.

I think im struggling because Ive always loved Olympia on pictures and really, really loved it when it was on me BUT Ive never really been that keen on Celeste and only tried it cos shop woman asked me too, I wasnt keen on it on the hanger then put it on and WOW felt like a princess and spooks eyes lit up! It really felt fantastic.

Now I cant decide cos its different to what I had imagined my dress would be - I thought I would go very, very simple like Olympia and Celeste is actually quite detailed but not fussy. It has a layer of organza over the top and is worn with a bigger hoop so is much more a princess fairytale dress.

This site shows Celeste in more detail.

Honey go for it if it makes your boobs look like that!!

I only tried my dress on because they did not have the one I liked by the same company in and it was just me - it felt right and looked right and fitted in all of the right places - you know I think just trying them on!!

smellymelly · 07/10/2004 12:13

I got married this summer, and bought a very plain dress in the Monsoon Jan sale. Then thought I should check out the Bridal shop just to make sure...

I tried on a couple of dresses, one of which was very different to what I had in mind, and when I put it on my bridesmaid and I burst into tears!! We knew that it was 'the dress', and the monsoon one went straight back.

I really think you should go for the one that makes you feel the most special when you try it on. ie. Celeste.
Mine had a train, and I wore a veil which I never imagined in a million years I would wear, and I felt great on my wedding day.

Difficult decision, I'm not quite sure if the Dulce or the Olympia.

lilibet · 07/10/2004 12:44

All gorgeous, but I'm for the plainer one then you can go mad on the jewellery! The boning does wonders for your figure, doesn't it? But you may have a wonderful figure anyway - sorry

I have hated looking for dresses, glad it's sorted.

How are the rest of your plans going?

Twinkie · 07/10/2004 12:51

Ooooohhhh sorry I have to disagree - don't go mad with anything go for understated elegance ala Grace Kelly or Audrey Hepburn - always looks much nicer and you don't look back in 20 years and think you looked like a right dogs dinner!!

(I looked great in mine, I thought, just needed to erase the man next to me and there you go!! - I have already been looking for the next dress so will be excited about reading your final choice!!)

bundle · 07/10/2004 12:54

what's your hair like beety? if it's long, are you going for an up do? i did, and asked my usual hairdresser to do it, but he said "oh bundle, I don't do up" (ffs) so the v camp spanish guy did it for me (90 odd hairgrips, but you couldn't see any of them, it was absolutely fabulous!)

lilibet · 07/10/2004 12:57

Bundle you made me do a double take then!!

It's not Beety who is getting married, it's Becca!!

I'm growing my hair for my wedding and am hating every moment of it!

edam · 07/10/2004 13:01

I LOVE the Celeste, others are nice but that's the most special. Although would possibly be better without decoration on skirt; the body is so heavily decorated not sure if skirt balances out or leads to overload. But if it makes you feel like a princess, that's definitely the one!
Are you having summer wedding? And indoors? Just checking because all your dresses are off the shoulder; if it's spring or autumn you might really need a wrap, possibly in the same fabric?

bundle · 07/10/2004 13:03

thanks, lillibet, my brian is obviously malfunctioning today! becca...of course!

how long have you got to grow it?

poppyseed · 07/10/2004 13:08

I love the olympia. It is understatedly simple and classy.

lilibet · 07/10/2004 13:11

another 4 months - I want an 'up do' too, but my hairdresser keeps asking what's the point of growing it to have it up!

Nearly there tho', but looking forward to having it chopped off.

edam · 07/10/2004 13:12

Lillibet, I grew mine to have it up! Would have been too short to put it up otherwise. Hairdresser did do a 'mainly up but tendrils coming down' thing with the tiara though.

bundle · 07/10/2004 13:16

lillibet, i loved mine, wish i had some pics to show you, it was all little mini sort of buns/pin curl type things in swirls (my hair is dark) with a bit left loose at the front.

Dingle · 07/10/2004 13:52

ooh, I love Weddings!! They are all gorgeous- no help at all. I want to get married all over again-to the same hubbie I hasten to add.
I loved the detail on Celeste, but I too think it would be much better with a plain skirt. The simplicity of the others are very elegant too.
I don't think that you could go far wrong with any of these, it's a very close choice! Go with what you feel & good luck!

Skate · 07/10/2004 13:57

Olympia is beautiful. It's def my fav of all of them - simple and understated which is always best IMHO.

I'd prefer it without the lace-up back but overall, that dress is gorgeous and the outright winner!

They are all lovely though.

Lucky you - wish I could wear a wedding dress again! Going wedding dress shopping with friend this weekend and can't wait!

colette · 07/10/2004 14:04

They are lovely, I like the olympia best, I love the way the bodice is cut. It is gorgeous - enjoy your big day .

KateandtheGirls · 07/10/2004 14:08

I haven't read the rest of the replies, but the Dion is my favourite. Having said that they're all beautiful. I don't dislike any of them.

PuffTheMagicDragon · 07/10/2004 14:14

All lovely!

My favourite from the pics is Olympia - very classy, elegant.(reminds me a lot of my own wedding dress ).

alicats · 07/10/2004 14:18

Hiya Beth

Congratulations on your forthcoming marriage.

They are all lovely, I prefer Celeste & Olympia but as some peeps have already said it's what makes you feel special. You get a feeling of YES this is the one.

When I got married I tried on several dresses, the one I really liked at first wasn't the one I chose I went into another shop and just tried this gold/ivory one on because i had always wanted something a bit different in the back of mind.

Good Luck with your decision

alicats · 07/10/2004 14:19

sorry Becca
