MummyToSteven · 12/09/2004 19:15

missing the ceremony as you have a crying baby that needs feeding.

reception venues in the middle of nowhere

coddychops · 12/09/2004 19:16

seating plans of the "thought you'd like to meet someone new instead of having a great time with all your old friends" variety

bran · 12/09/2004 19:17

Having to sit beside the annoying relative who is currently not speaking to anyone else in the family.
Wearing high heels (also applies to awards dinners).
Having to travel long distances, pay expensive air-fare and use up holiday time.

coddychops · 12/09/2004 19:17

melsy · 12/09/2004 19:19

ooh and dancing to some naffo cover of your fave song !!!!!!

NomDePlume · 12/09/2004 19:19

My own wedding - the cost and the seemingly endless list of teeny-weeny decisions that were always URGENT.

Other peoples weddings -

  • Having to make inane chat with the Bride's uncle twice removed just 'cos you've been plonked next to the old letch.

  • Worrying about what to wear, i.e. am I going to get there and feel like Princess Anne etc.

  • Trying to think of something original to write in the guest book when you are the last one to get it of the 100+ guests. Grrrrrrrr.

  • Trying to look happy for the bride/groom when you know that their new spouse is a nightmare.....

But generally, I quite like a good wedding

blossomhill · 12/09/2004 19:19

Having to pay out so much:

present, hairdressers, new outfits, hen nights, drinks bill - the list is endless.
I always have new shoes, they end up killing me after wearing them for 10 hours.
I think that the average couple that go to weddings probably spend about £200-300 in total.

I hate traditional run of the mill wedding format - all that waiting around...

coddychops · 12/09/2004 19:20

hearing the dreaded words " its our day"

Agree with the naffo disco with 80's throwback DJ, talking over the already shocking soundtrack.

roisin · 12/09/2004 19:23

I hate all the hanging around. I always seem to spend about 4 hours thinking: "I'm starving, but it's OK we'll be sitting down to eat in about 20 minutes"

At the last family wedding I went to we all thought the bride's family seemed a bit distant and stand-offish, but really beautifully dressed. Found out later that the groom's aunt had been in a hairdressers and had said something about having to go to a country wedding and the brides family were bound to be bog-trotters wearing awful outfits from the 1980's and someone heard her who knew the family and .

melsy · 12/09/2004 19:27
